Tossed the Scale and lost 6 lbs in a week!

Can you believe it! I send the scale home with my mother in law so I had to force myself to stop weighing myself. I had mixed feelings as I watched it go out the door, almost a little anxiety. I realized though this week I am much happier not weighing myself daily. I went to the gym today and weighed myself, with clothes on and I'd dropped 6lbs. That is the most weight I've lost at once since the start of June. I spent nearly three months bouncing up and down the same 3-4 lbs. It was so frustrating.

I really think less stressed helped me lose weight!

Andrea, I'm jumping for joy for you!  Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that what you're doing is working.  I think you're right about the stress.  I went for three weeks in August when I was exercising 2-3 hours daily, and watched the same 2 ounces go up and down.  I was so incredibly frustrated and I wonder how much scale stress had to do with it.

I'm not ready to send my scale out the door these days because since starting thyroid meds two weeks ago, the scale has become my best friend.

I am just so darn excited for you!! You were so overdue for this great morning.

Thanks Lee. I had a three month plateau from hell. At least if I have another one, I know now it will end! I think stress is a factor because our bodies pump out more cortisol some of which stores as fat when we're stressed. I was so much less stressed last week even though I was under a lot of work stress.

I hope that if you ever have another stall, you'll post more, not less and let us support you and remind you that it just simply happens and isn't necessarily anything that you're doing or should be changing.  I'm really proud of you!

I promise I will post. I have a tendency to withdraw when upset, but clearly that is something to change. I just felt so bad and felt like I was failing.

WooHoo.  I'll take 6 lbs a week right after surgery, much less after 6 months.  You go girl.
