My Six Month Follow-up Appointment

Andrea, I'll check out those sites where you're teaching.

You and I have both been so fixated on the scale.  I think for me, it was my doctor challenging me and also seeing how quickly some have shed the weight.  It's just not my story.  I have been taking the time to appreciate things along the way.  I think the exercise has really helped me just focus in on how great my body feels.  I also use a long walk in the morning as a walking meditation to appreciate everything in my life.

I feel so lucky to have had the surgery!

Looks like you had a great appointment.  I go for my 6 month visit next Thursday.  You are so motivating regarding exercise.  I'm not as disciplined in that area.  DH and I bought an eliptical and recumbunt bike 2 weeks ago.  I've been trying to use it every day.  I will, I will, I will !!!!!!

 Hi Linda,

Just get on and do what you can.  I started with 5 minutes on the eliptical in July and within a week I was doing 30 minutes.  It's boring and hard work, but it does great things for the upper thighs and booty!  I think the recumbent bike is my least favorite.  I find it really hard.  I'd rather walk an hour on the treadmill or walk 3 miles outside to avoid 20 minutes on the bike.  Others love it so I'm going to really get into it this winter.  I look at the rower, then at the bike and opt for the rower almost everytime.  :)

Good Luck at your checkup!

Sounds like a great 6 month visit.  And you are a star with your exercise so you sould be very proud of that.  Those final lbs will come off.
I'm glad my Drs are the 6 meal believers.  I'm not sure I could do 3.

Hi Price, just a few more days for you!!   Yes, I'd prefer my doc to be the 6 meal believer, but Kaiser where I go, just isn't.  I've had to really tweak things so that they work for me.  Thanks for the encouragement.

What a great visit you had!
My surgeon wont see me again until a year. You are a lucky woman!
I love your attitude and I have no doubts that you will achieve your goal.
I wish I could give you a big hug!!!

Awww Maria, cyber hug accepted and right back atcha!  So you only see your surgeon once a year?   I saw mine at 2 weeks out, 3 months, 6 months, then I'll see him at 1 year.

Do you see a NUT?

Lee, sounds like you had a great check up.  You have done a great job with your exercise and should be very proud of yourself!!

My NUT does not want us to use the protein drinks and wants the 3 meals and if you must 1 snack a day.  I tried it, but knew that it was not something I could live with the rest of my life plus I was feeling so deprived and eating all kinds of things I shouldn't.  I added back my protein drinks and night time snack and have been doing better.

I really believe we each have to find our own balance - especially when we get further out- so that we can stay successful.  Of course we have to stay within some guidelines with calories, carbs, fats and protein.  What works for me, might not work for someone else.  I know you will find the right balance for you.

Congratulations on your success so far!!

Linda
