I heard my first..."you're not going to loose anymore weight, are you?" comment today!!!  It made me feel good in a way, YET I have 30 more lbs to reach a nl BMI!!!!

I am 5'6" and weight 181...and looking good, if I say so myself, BUT...I hope I don't keep hearing this...35lb away from goal (145)!

I am the exact same as you are, 5'6" and 181ish.  I heard the same ridiculous statement the other day.  I said "thanks, I don't know.  I'm just getting healthy so we'll see!"

I'm only 5'4" and I'm glad I haven't heard this yet.  Cause I'm going to say "HELL YES I AM"!!!!!!!!!!

At 5'4" ad 177 pounds, I think I have a long way to go before I hear that from anyone, but I bet it will make me feel good too!

Kudos on looking good!  :)

I have been hearing it non-stop. I reached my original goal, but I want to lose a few more. My husband got it bad when he was losing (he lost over 100 pounds just from our lifestyle changes, he didn't have surgery).

He has a very good theory on this:
The average American is 20-30 pounds overweight. So when they see someone nearing or at a health weight, they view that person as underweight. It made sense to me.

My surgeon's office says:
Everyone surrounding you is used to seeing you overweight. Some people may have never seen you at a normal weight in your life. So as you lose, you will look different and unhealthy and too skinny. Especially when they didn't notice how overweight you were in the first place.

I feel a bit jealous sometimes reading these comments. I didn't get comments like this until I was down very close to my lowest weight. It makes me wonder if I look fatter than I am!

I did get a few "don't get too skinny" comments but there was no implication I should stop right there in them.

Marie, you're one of the tiniest women I know!  I would probably have made those comments if I'd met you a year ago.

I got that a lot on my way down but now that I've been at goal for awhile I think everyone's getting used to the "new" me because I rarely hear it now.

There must have been a short time when I did look a little sick because my DD's mentioned several times that  I didn't have much color, my hair lost it's bounce, and I looked really tired.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Congrats on getting closer to goal!
I think the people around us are just not used to our new images.
My surgeon warned me about this and said to stay strong and work towards my goal.
Good luck!
