OMG!!!!! I am sooooooooooo excited... after being DENIED on August 16th, 2010, my Primary Care Physician signed off on a letter that I got from an Obesity help member named NAN.  My APPEAL was sent in on Monday August 30th, and my surgeon called me today and said "THAT MUST HAVE BEEN ONE HELLUVA LETTER, BECAUSE CIGNA HAS APPROVED YOU FOR WHATEVER WLS OF YOUR CHOICE!!!   I go in on Sept. 14, 2010 for blood work, to see which surgery will be best for me, I am looking into Lap-band, or the  VSG. Thank you all, for your concerns, and helping me get through this thing with fighting with the Insurance Company!!!! I will update you all on a tentative surgery date soon!!!!   GOD IS WALKING RIGHT BESIDE ME ON THIS JOURNEY, IF I MAY FALL, HE WILL BE RIGHT THERE TO LIFT ME.

Congratulations!  That's wonderful news!  I remember you being denied and felt bad for you.

I would like to recommend that you do a lot of research on your own, to be sure the surgery that you ultimately choose is the best fit for your cir****tances and as many surgeons will push their specialty.  If you have the choice there is also RNY and DS as well to consider.

Good luck and by the way, I'm with Lee and  I love my VSG too!

Thanks ladies!!! Jane I think that will be GREAT!!!  I am using Dr. George Woodman, I know he has been called arrogant, and have 'not so good' bed-side manners, but I have been told by all of his PEERS that he is the BEST in the WLS business!!!  I am sooo ecstatic!!!!

Rachel,  I have not heard of him, he must be realitively new in town??  I see Dr. Virginia Weaver...takes forever to get a date with her, see has been so busy....maybe he is the new surgeon that they were going to hire (at St. Francis) ???

As to getting together...I will contact you via OH e-mail (I think you are already a frient) and maybe we could arrange something...that would be great!!

If you have been approved for any you chose, make sure you consider all your options carefully. And CONGRATS!!!

If I didn't have diabetes/PCOS to contend with and had your options, I would go with the sleeve in a NY MINUTE! Liz

Congratulations!!! Time to hit the books so you can make your decision. I personally would choose anything but the Lapband. I have heard of too many problems associated with it and tons of people end up having it removed because of complications. Do your research carefully.

Congratulations!  I also having Cigna, which in the words of the insurance specialists is fondly referred to as "Cig-No" but they approved my VSG in July after saying it would not be approved up through May.  So, it's a VSG for me in a little less than 3 weeks!!!

Best wishes and as everyone says, do your homework to decide exactly what is right for YOU.
