Anyone have surgery with BMI 30-32?
HI,
I was sleeved one week ago at a BMI of 30 and 182 lbs. Anyone with a sleeve that started out at what most people call "Light"? I had been going up and down with the same 40 lbs forever....which doesn't sound like alot to some, but the ending weight seemed to rise and rise. Anyway, despite what anyone thinks, I made the decision for me, and was wondering if anyone else out there did so? My sister did, and my daughter did (she was a BMI of 44). I am an RNFA, and was able to get the discount for cash pay, which I know is a blessing. I wonder if you start out with low BMI, and have less to lose, do you still go through the whole "hair loss" thing if you lose slowly?? I was just curious. I admire all of you and you should be so proud of your losses. I know I work at a Bariatric center, and I think what an incredible change in life it must be!! Be Blessed!

Hi Connie,
I want to say "BelizeSleeve" was a little below the US standard 35BMI and near 30 or so BMI when she got her sleeve. (I may have her mixed up with someone else) Anyway, glad you're here...we don't get hung up on numbers.
You'll probably go through hair loss because it's more about the trauma of surgery and going into ketosis than slowly losing weight. Thanks goodness it comes back.
Welcome aboard!

When I started looking into surgery, I was a 32 BMI. When I started the pre-op diet, I was 33.9ish, which is still considered pretty low. You may lose slowly pounds-wise, but will be at least as quick if not quicker percentage-wise. I work really hard and so I am not losing particularly slowly myself. I haven't started losing my hair yet but am expecting to. Like Gina said, it's the trauma itself that causes that.
