Hello all I haven't been on here for a week and I absolutely missed you all!!! My vacation to mickey mouse land went wonderful. It was fabulous taking my in-laws, they are such good company.

For meals My hubby just ordered and I just took a bit off of his plate while we were there; it would have just been a waste for me to order a meal. I do have a question, when did you all start drinking coffee again? I have not had a cup of coffee in 3 months and I miss my little friend dearly. Hope all of you are doing well and meeting your goals. Smooches!!!!

Hey! Missed you too!

I drank decaf a few times by 3 months out but it took a solid 9 months for me to even like the taste of coffee again. Crazy thing was, I liked the coffee at work but didn't like the taste of mine at home. Same drip coffee maker and everything..

Now it all tastes the same and I make protein coffees for DH and myself every morning. Oh, and I use reduced caffeine coffee.

Wow that is kind of crazy. I make my protein shakes with instant decaf but I really just want to savor a nice cup of coffee right now so I may try to make one. I tried a cup of starbucks a while ago and it tasted like tar so I have not tried coffee since then.

All has been going really well with me lately I have a follow up with the GI doc wednesday. I did have an issues at disney though. I have never been a chocolate person but for some reason I kept buying chocolate covered crap and not eating a bit of it. I think I just wanted to buy some type of food like everyone else but I could have at least bought something I liked or would actually eat. Go figure!

I've always thought Starbucks regular coffee tasted like Tar... ugh!  Only get lattes there.  I was 2 weeks out when I had my first one... and I added protein powder to it too.  I'd get a skinny vanilla latte - you can ask them to make it "warm" so its not too hot to put the protein into it. I'd ask for a Grande in a Venti cup so I'd have room to stir.  And you can get it decaf....  Its a treat - not something I'd do every day, but at this point, unless you're lactose intolerant shouldn't be an issue.

I'm not sure about VSG, but with my RNY I waited for 6 months or so and started on decaf, and now run on fully leaded coffee!  Just take it easy as the acid in the coffee may be irritating to you (decaf and regular).

Glad you had a great time!  I love vacations!

Im almost 6 months out. I just started drinking decaf a few weeks ago.  I had no desire for coffee after surgery.  Now I drink 1 cup of decaf in the AM with protein powder.  Glad you had a good time on vaca.  Cindy

I'm so glad you had a good time at Disney.

I eat off DH's plate some still - depends on where we are eating.

I drink Decaf coffee still.  I think I started back somewhere between 3-6 months out.  I haven't had any problems with the decaf.

I started drinking decaf about a month after surgery.  After a couple of weeks I upgraded to half decaf and drink it all the time with protein and love it and look forward to it every day!  I figure adding the protein and only half decaf makes it a VERY healthy drink for me, lol!

By the way my surgeon said I could have it as soon as I could tolerate it.

Don't ask me -- I think coffee tastes like what burned water would taste like if you could burn water!

My surgeon said Decaf was ok as soon as I wanted & could tolerate & I drink it on the weekends sometimes - DH & I love sitting on the deck in the early am & relaxing with a cup.  My surgeon & Nut are very anti caffeine though - ever - because of the potential of ulcers.  So far I am not missing the caffiene even though I was a 6 cup a dayer before.  I have definately found it is worth it to actually brew the decaf versus instant or the coffee tea bags.
