I'm still on Optifast and gained a pound last week. Then it came back off.  Our bodies just do crazy stuff and make us even crazier.  I keep thinking, tomorrow is my last weigh in before surgery, then I can just do what I AM doing but have the pressure off.  I hate scales.

I'm up a pound, even without sweets and a buffet.  I bet you had a lot more sodium than you're used to.

For me, I can see that 1 hour of exercise just isn't enough to allow me to lose or even stay the same. I still need over an hour a day to lose an ounce.

I'm sure the stress of it isn't helping either of it.  I'm going to walk an hour this morning on the way to work.  What are you going to do to get the sodium out of your system?

Sorry about your 2 moonie.  That sux too!

Ava, no you don't deserve this!!!!   Maybe you had a lot of salt in your buffet meal.  I've found that even if I pick all protein (meats) on a buffet everything is really salty.

How did you lose/gain weight before you had surgery?  I remember at WW some woman would come in there and lose 6 pounds a week to my 1/4 of a pound, but when they gained they gained big too and I would only gain 1/2 or 3/4 a pound.  Everyones 4 pounds isn't the same.  Some lose/gain fast and some lose/gain fast.

U know Roz honestly i dont know because i avoided the scale for many years .   When i stopped dieting  to get my weight past the 35 bmi requirement  to qualify for insurance-paid surgery I literally put on a pound a day ( !! ) without even trying ... or binging .

Thats due to the  hundred pounds ( at least ) of excess ( largely empty) fat cells ive been carrying since i was a " big "child , my strangely high fat - promoting estrogen levels , and my diabetes related metabolic syndrome .

ANY ONE of these will stall / resist weight loss - all of them COMBINED with emotional eating and gosh-darn resistance to dieting and hunger ....

its just about IMPOSSIBLE  to lose .

Sometimes I am so JEALOUS  of ya'll doing so well and living on Ur happy hobbit like protein shakes and snacks ...

Well if theres ever a world -wide famine U know who'll be left standing LOL !!!  see , I'm ideally suited to go to the arctic... where U have to carry what U eat on Ur back ....

I could be a very succesful hunter - gatherer  because my body's so gosh darn super-efficient ....

Im just NOT ideally suited to living and stressfully working in NYC where tasty food is available cheaply and literally five times in every single block !  GRRRR

U know these terrorists think THEY have problems   we should make them try to keep their weight down 50 lbs under their body's natural setpoint .... its a FULL TIME occupation.... no more idle hands being the devils workshop ....LOL

AWE Ava...Don't be jealous.  We all  have so many different goals in our lives.

You have a goal of being super slender to fit into all of those wonderful "skinny" clothes and I have a goal of being healthy enough to keep up with my 4 grandchildren.  You stress over every pound and I am happy and content being up a few pounds and then down a few.  I don't want to gain weight but if I do it's not going to be the end of the world for me.  I felt just as wonderful 15 pounds ago, in fact I had a lot less extra skin so my DH was probably happier when I had the extra pounds on....LOL

Our lifestyles are so different you can't compare yourself to someone like me.  I'm a country girl who's big night on the town is going to the local Texas Roadhouse and shopping  at the local mall or the lumber store.   We would much rather stay at home, have the girls and kids over, and cook on the gril than going out.  You on the other hand have an exciting life in the big city full of so many more choices and exciting things to do.

Hey Kid, gee I hate to see you struggle so much! But I pray mostly for you to be happy. You really deserve to feel like your "normal" ...what ever that may be......your such a beautiful woman that I find it perplexing that you see yourself different than we do. If I had any advice it might be to get rid of the scale and to just work as hard as you are and keep up your toning. Sometimes your body can start a slight gain when it is getting fit....extra muscles ....etc....please don't worry so much ....you are doing great and are such wonderful friend to us all. Your friend, Jeff
