Rose, I'm sorry you are still having such a hard time.  I hope you find someone who can help you with your pain and correct the problems.

Can they repair your knee with surgery?

I know you were having lots of problems eating.  Has that been corrected now?  I sure hope you can atleast get your protein and vitamins in each day.

Hope you get to feeling better and find someone who will get you the help that you deserve and need.

I don't think I am getting the 60g of protein right now, it is the first time since surgery that I haven't been. My family are vegetarians so getting protein in is a challenge. Actually pastatarians.

I was in bed alot after the surgery but you know, I walked every couple hours. Heck I went to my nephews birthday party a few days post op.

I have been in pain for 5 months.
I have been in pain for 5 months.

I think being in chronic pain is not helping the depression.

I have not celebrated the loss of weight, I sometimes catch glimpses of my nekkid self in the mirror and I am shocked. Where did my behind go? My stomach is almost flat.

The doctor is all about PT and getting my quads stronger but they are well defined when I look at my legs. I walk. I am a walker. Besides these past weeks, I have been on the GO.

Nerve pain is horrible, sciatic? Mothership!

I wont accept disrespect or being jerked around. I think I should become a medical advocate, do it professionally.

Last night I made notes for the doc. Bwahaha.

I have complied.

I don't even know when to go back to the bariatric surgeon, is it 6 months? Or if there are no issues I don't need to go? I have come to live with pain if I drink straigh****er or greasy food.

We all deserve health and happiness.

Hi Rose,

I know your pain and I'm so sorry you're going through that.  I have 2 total knee replacements and also have 2 bad discs.  One in my neck and one in my lower back.  They tell me I have a lot of Arthritis in both places so they can't do anything for me.  I will tell you what I do aside from taking pain pills.

Go to the medical supply store and buy yourself a Thermafore ( not sure of spelling)  It is moist heat like you get at Rehab.  I would not be able to walk if it wasn't for this.  It isn't the same as a wet heating pad.  It is much better.  I have a large one that cover my whole back.  I use it whenever I walk a lot, on vacationsevery night, and whenever I hurt.  It really eases the pain and loosens your muscles. You don't need a script for it unless your insurance will pay for it.  Mine didn't so I paid about $75.00 for mine.  I bought it a long time ago and think the price might have come down since then.

Whatever the cost, it is worth it.  I would be bed ridden without it

. For your knees the best thing to use is Ice Packs.  Get some bags of large frozen peas. They make great ice packs and you can fit it around your knee.  My ortho Dr. told me about using frozen peas. Keep you leg elevated and use the ice. Then re-freeze for next time.

Let me know how it works for you.

Good luck.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with all this.  I have worked for several neurosurgeons in years past and everyone's case is different.  Doctors should treat everyone as an individual but few actually do.

Clinical depression is also something almost no one in the world understands unless/until they suffer from it.  I have had several family members be absolutely debilitated by it, including one of my children.  Having a chronic physical illness is very often easier.

I hope you will be blessed this week with some answers, some help, and a lot of understanding.

KUDOS for losing weight with all this other stuff going on.  I salute you!

I had a good visit with my ortho surgeon today. He sat right there and maintained eye contact and everything. He believes me and that matters a lot. He gave me a script for a wheelchair, fetanyl patches, I am going up on the oxy and I will be looking for a back doctor (what is the official name?) - He was very thorough and treated me like a human being. He apologized for his gatekeeper and his nurse said she couldn't punch her but there were other ways. Hehehe.

So we go from here. I have had back problems for a long while. With having severe lordosis and my feet turning in and so on. I guess it was to be expected. I will look for a back doc who listens to me and my back will get fixed and I will be able to get out of the wheelchair and out of bed and hey - even turn my head!

Woohoo.

Thanks for all the information and kindness guys, I think of you, of us and our daily challenges often.

Rose
