Nutrition Label Accuracy?

I eat scallops 3-5 times a week. I love them. I started buying individual serving size packages in the frozen seafood department at Hy-Vee a long time ago. Perfect sleeve size 4oz frozen, 2oz cooked.
160 cal, 29 grams protein, (can't recall fat off hand). Anyway, I found the same thing at Kroger, so sometimes I buy them there. I never checked the label and just assumed they had the same content. WRONG. The Kroger ones say 80 calories, 19 grams protein. They are the same size package, look the same, taste the same. What's going on here?

It makes me wonder how accurate these things are. I wonder if other foods of different brands are different? Isn't this regulated by someone?

It's almost as if one serving size is larger than the other. I know scallops are supposed to be awesome in protein. If you're low carbing, don't worry about the fat grams.

I didn't know about the carb/fat thing. These packages have the same weight and serving sizes. It's so odd.

That is odd!! Any type of fillers? I assume not, but stranger things have happened.

BTW, your weight is still dropping. Way to go!!! When are you going to start maintenance or do you want to drop more?

I'd really like to get down closer to 100. I'm so short, it's still a normal BMI. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and see where I end up.

One may have more fat than the other without effecting the serving size much.

Shannon, I don't know about the labels but I'd love to know how you prepare the scallops.  I eat a lot of shrimp and I either eat it with ****tail sauce or a meyer lemon/butter sauce.  I get those 4 oz tilapia single serving filets but I'm not drawn to eat them.

I just put them in a tiny saucepan or skillet with some "I can't believe it's not butter spray" then put a little garlic and parsley, or old bay seasoning, or even reduced fat parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes. They just cook for a couple of minutes. Super easy and they don't have near the cholesterol that shrimp have.
