Hello all! I have been viewing this forum for quite some time now, and am in the process of the Vsg. Have a few more tests and hopefully Nov I will get to have my surgery....I have struggled with the ideal of having to only lose 108 lbs and have crossed that road, that yes I am worth it. But in wanting this so much, I have alot of doubts about...how's this gonna work, I mean i have cut down my intake and am having protien shakes twice a day., and by the end of the day I feel like I could go to Mcdonalds and eat one of everything on the menu. I guess I am just so scared this will not work....anyway what advice you can give I appreciate it! Thanks

After you are sleeved, you will not feel hungry very often. Also, you have so much restriction that you can't eat much. As long as you make the right food choices, you will be a success!

Welcome to the LW Boards.
I don't have a VSG, but I'm sure you won't feel the hunger for a while after the surgery and even if your hunger comes back you won't be able to eat as much as you can now.  You do have to be accountable for what you eat because if you eat a lot of slider foods you can end up getting way too many calories.
Good luck.

I love my Sleevie.  Shannon is right, after surgery you won't be able to eat very much.  It's amazing how little food will fill you up and you'll be satisfied.  Truth be told, they operate on our stomach, not our head, so if you have eating issues, it's best to deal with them now.  I think you're doing great in thinking/wondering what it's going to be like.  Do you go to the VSG forum? It's pretty active over there with lots of people posting.

I had 80 pounds to lose from surgery morning and think it was so well worth it to have the surgery.  The thought of not every having to worry about putting these pounds back on (if I work my sleeve) is so incredibly liberating.

Let us know what you need and what questions we can answer for you.

Welcome to the LW board.

Welcome!
Its hard to understand preop that your hunger is gone postop. I had the same fears as you.
But now at one month out, I still eat because I have too, not because I am hungry.

I really struggled preop, should I just try one more time and then I realized at 44 yr old, if I could have done it, I would have. I could have short term success but not long term and with my sugar and bp getting higher, I thought, I am going to do this now before something bad happens!

Just do as much research as you can. Ask all the questions you can think of and you will come to the right decision for you.
