Update

So just thought I'd pop in and say hi and give everyone an update. I've been avoiding the site cause its been bumming me out the hastle getting this approval has been.

As a recap my surgeons office submitted my approval for a RNY rather than a VSG. Then the office coordinator told me they would resubmit it when they got a chance. By the end of the week even though it was thier mistake.

Well by Wednesday I hadn't heard anything about when it was going to be submitted I took someone's advice from the site about contacting the surgeon. I decided I would contact the immediate supervisor above the office coordinator who I found out was on maternity leave. The next person to contact was the head of the bariatric team which is one of the surgeons. I contacted him. I sent him an email on Wednesday afternoon by Wednesday evening I got a phonce call back from the office coordinator.

I called her back and left a message and then was in contact with the office insurance submitter. The new request was finally submitted on Thursday the 19th.

I was in contact with the insurance coordinator on and off this week and with BCBS and I am still doing all of my pre op stuff on the 30th and so far keeping my surgery date of the 21.

So today I was talking with my insurance coordinator and I asked her what I would have to do to change my surgery date to the 24. She told me to contact the office coordinator (the one who had dropped the ball in the first place and who always ignores my calls) and to cc my surgeon.

The office coordinator's response was "Thank you for getting back to me from my phone message a week ago, Based on your previous email to the surgeons, we have made accommodations to hold the 9.21.10 date pending your written sleeve approval, and after we have received written approval from your insurance will I look at the schedule and see if we can accomadate your request."

Am I being overly sensitive or is she snippy with me with the comment about due to my email to the surgeons and the comment about finally getting back to her..I got back to her last week she never called me back. I'm just upset becasue she cc'd both of my surgeons. I feel like I'm a whiny person when I'm really not. i'm just upset they didn't do their initial job such as submitting everything the way they are suppose to.

Let me know if I am being over sensitive.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Nicole

LET her be snippy, you did what you needed to do and that was be a squeaky wheel!

Basically she got her "ass handed to her" because she didn't work with you and she is trying to take it out on you. Don't let it upset you. The surgeons would not have had her save the date for you if you hadn't been right. :) She's the one who is being overly sensitive.

Good going.

Thank you.  I just hate being the squeaky wheel.  So I don't know if I am out of line sometimes.  Thanks again!

If you're not the squeaky wheel, no one will do it for you.  You have to be your own and best advocate in these situations.

Quite frankly, I'd have replied back to all and said "I DID contact you last week and you didn't contact me BACK"....  Don't let her make it look like you're not doing your part....

I think you did the right thing in going over her head to the surgeon.  Do it again if you have to.

I would have gone over her head also. But at the same time, my surgeon group won't ever talk about scheduling until they have written approval. So at least your name is on the calendar and hopefully approval won't be too far away.
She probably cc'd the surgeons so they would know now that she was doing her job, nothing about you. Covering her ass.

You are not over sensitive.  Be in control of your choices.  You have a right to be treated politely.  You are paying that nurse (whomever's) salary. Just because you have having weight loss surgery does not give anyone permission to be discourteous to you.
BE SENSITIVE.  You would take care of your children, do the same for yourself.
