Having been thru a partial hysterectomy many moons ago, some of the same rules apply to it as to a wls. As soon as you can, get up and start walking. Take a pillow to ride home with, You will need it to put on your tummy. And stand as straight as you can, not hunched over, it won't fall out. LOL. The first week was a blur. I don't remember much but wasn't in much pain. Second and third week was fine, just still hurting some, weeks 4-6 I was bored to tears cause I couldn't do much.
Upside, walking past the feminine aisle for the last 16 years knowing that was behind me. :) And now menopause is also behind me, I sailed thru that in a year. I took a blood test yearly with my gynecologist and one year I was fine and the next year, I was completely thru menopause. Never had a single symptom.
So swinging critters for you and good luck. Once it's all done, you will feel much better.

i am not a regular poster on here, but when i read about your problem, I had to post. I have the prolapse problem. I am 65, so been through menopause a while back. One doctor is talking about a complete hysterectomy for me. He says the ovaries do not do anything for someone my age. Also he says it can all be done done without an incision. I was not impressed with the doctor, so am getting a second opinion.
Don't mean to steal your thread, but could you or someone give me your thoughts on my situation.

Oh Ruby...its nice to meet ya!! It is very important if you are not impressed with the doctor to get a 2nd opinion...
The hysterectomy can be done without incisions ~ from what I have read, there is debate on the role ovaries play regarding hormones and post menopausal women and the risks of ovarian cancer. I don't know much about it really. I am concerned that once I undergo surgery and he takes a peak, he'll find something wrong with the ovaries and take em. I think it is personal preference and your doctor's school of thought.
I'll PM you with more details of what I know so far and have learned through the research over the past 2 weeks if you want...you can PM me too :)
BUT know this...we are not alone and you have a lot of support here :)
I hope you post more often...
