Ok ladies, I had this done years ago with my hysterectomy and it was the most painful thing I have ever gone through. For weeks, I felt like I had a dry corncob in my vagina. It was months before intercourse wasn't painful. I sat in sitz baths for hours on end for weeks.
Get a second opinion. Think very long and hard.
Maybe the techniques have changed, I certainly hope so.

Anyways, I digress...lol....I have been thinking hard about it and am ready for the surgery; I just think he's being very dramatic in the NEVER run part.
I've been in the same boat. I had rectocele surgery and it came right back. Mine is also from a difficult delivery, high forceps and also facing the wrong way. I haven't been the same since. The worse symptom is difficulty using the bathroom. I saw a surgeon a few years ago and since at that time I was having a lot of diarrhea I was told I didn't need more surgery. Now the diarrhea is gone and I have to worry about constipation again. I am using stool softeners and milk of magnesia to try to help. I wish you well.
