Checking in, Updates, Changes, Challenges
Good morning LW's, boy have I missed posting!! I miss you ALL!!
Ok, so my summer of drama has certainly thrown it's curve balls at me and I must say, I have flinched several times, retreated, emerged, and fought some more. Like riding waves. One thing this new crisis has shown me is that stress has such a tremendous impact on the body. Not that I didn't really know that, but, with wls, I think my body is hyper-sensitive and all I can say is wow...the pouch really took some punches for me and now its time for repair.
I went to the surgeon's last week and talked to the PA on call. I felt like I was 2 years old rattling off things here and there and no order to my list of complaints. I guess I felt bad because I have not had ANY issues at all post-op EVER until just the last lovely 4 weeks. So, I explain the burning and pain under sternum. He put me on Omeprazole and Carafate. I will follow up with him in 3 weeks.
As for the hernia thoughts...nothing in the area I thought but in my lower abdomen, he thinks I have a hernia that may have been there but not known until the weightloss that has ocurred. Basically, in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen, I had a fatty herniated tumor removed (15 years ago) and a mesh placed. Didn't think much of it other than the scare and slight indentation it gave me but figured it was just "fat" distorting it. Well, I brought it to the PA's attention and asked if the fact that it is even more mishaped is normal and he palped it and said, i may have herniated going from bottom to top now...weird huh. He said let's deal with the reflux first and then address the possible hernia when I come back for my check up.
In my past few weeks of normal annual appts, I have seen everyone...eye doctor, dentist, gyn, etc. Well, after seeing my gyn, I have a minor surgery scheduled to address an old cyst that has become more noticeable (again, chucked it up to losing weight everywhere) and bothersome. So, I go for surgery next Monday. So there goes my fitness goals for the next few weeks for recovery...ugh.
I have a feelling that the next 6-8 months will be trying as my body gets used to being at this lower weight and minor repairs that were once hidden by fat or left alone due to weight will be addressed on an as-needed basis. Nothing like minor tune ups here and there, right? LOL
So there are the updates and changes. Now for the upcoming challenges for the remainder of the year...To beef back up my fitness level once cleared again after surgery. The past 4 weeks took the wind out of my fitness sail and I WAS planning on getting back on track this wee****il I spoke with the doctor. Since surgery is in 6 days, I am focusing on getting things ready. My wonderful hubby will be back home next Thursday...yay!! And my youngest son starts high school next Monday too...lol
So, that's it guys. I'll be posting on M&M...gotta keep the accountability going for daily food. I am stuck at 138...I would like to get down to 125...I still have a pooch belly in the lower gut. Bones on top but still fluffy in the middle...lol
Thank you for all your support and shoulders...you guys are WONDERFUL!!!

Sorry you've had such a rough summer and I'm glad your hubby will be home soon. It will help to share the load. Catch your breath and baby yourself a little bit.

So sorry you have had so much stress! It can definitely do a number on your body. Just concentrate on getting back on track emotionally and getting your body back in working order. As long as you keep in line with your nutrition, you can easily get back on track with losing once the stress is gone. Many people lose all their weight without much exercise. Then when you are healed you can go "balls to the wall" (that's our saying for hard-core work out days).
Hi Diana,
I don't know how I missed your post yesterday. Sorry about that!
What a full plate you've had lately. So much going on in your life and most of it stressful.
I hope the meds get your reflux under control. That will help so much to at least not be in so much physical discomfort. Sorry that you have to have that small surgery.
I really hope we get to see you here more often. I always like seeing you!
Sending hugs your way.
