Last week I asked the dietician about chewable MVI, since I am due to have surgery next week. The only one that she recommended was OPTI-Source, which you have to get on line. She didn't recommend taking them very long, mainly due to the cost. I bought mine from drugstore.com, which seemed to have the lowest price.

Other vits recommended: Calcium Citrate, B12, Thiamine in a B-complex, iron (if needed) plus Vit C, and D3.

You need to get alot of blood work done, just because you don't malabsorb doesn't mean you dont' need frequent blood work.  You dont eat much and can develop deficiencies just as easily.  You need to have CBC, comprehensive metabolic panel, iron, ferritin, TIBC, iron sat %, B12, vitamin D25 hydroxy, folate, lipid panel, thyroid panel, PTH.  These are the basics.  My Endo also does Vitamin A, zinc, selenium, vitamin B1 and magnesium on all sleeve and band patients.  She finds that even though you don't malabsorb, these vitamins show up deficient over time.

I am very good when it comes to my vitamins.  I start out in the morning with my synthroid and cytomel and go back to bed.  Then when I wake up, I take my first dose of BA calcium citrate - cherry lozenges and raspberry chewies - yummy - have to remember they aren't candy, a centrum silver chewable and 2 dry vitamin A.  Then before dinner I have another dose of calcium citrate and around 9 pm, I have my third dose of calcium citrate.  Then before dinner is when I take most everything else - Dry D3, selenium, B1, centrum silver chewable, B12 shots (3 times per week), Tender Iron (180mg) plus my prescription meds.  I know I shouldnt take all this stuff together but so far, I have no problems with my labs this way.

I just had my labs done again today - 22 months, so we shall see in about 2 weeks when I get the results.

I have two sets of containers. One has AM and PM pills that I take at home. The other splits apart so I can take my lunch and afternoon pills to work or in my purse if I'm "out and about" on the weekend.

When I first started, I set alarms on my cell phone to remind me. Now I take my pills with meals so it's easy to remember.

I always take my vitamins.  I have a pill container that I got at Target it has 4 sections for each day and I leave it on my counter so I see it and that way won't forget.  Calcium and Multi in the morning, b complex at noon, prilosec at evening, calcium and multi vit at bedtime.  Also have my b12 in there.  My kids think it's funny that my pill container is bigger then their grandparents. :o)

Okay, right now, I am still pre-op so mine are still divided into two batches. My morning ones ar the synthroid/cytomel that I either take when I get up in the middle of the night to pee or in the morning when I first get up.

The other is in a pill sorter so I take those all in one batch in the evening about an hour or two before bed so my mirapex kicks in.

I haven't yet added any others.

Doing good since I've been following vitaladys schedule.  I take the morning, take the midday in a baggie to work and take during lunch and set out the evening on the counter to take with supper.  Lin
