Got a new scale today

I had a dial type scale and it was hard for me to read the numbers.  It did match what my surgeons scale said though.  Today I couldn't really make out what it said so I decided to buy a digital scale.  The store had a 50% off sale and I got a nice one that tells body fat too for $20.  When I got home I weighed on it and it was about 5 lbs heavier then the old scale (from what I could tell, I may have read the dial scale wrong).  I decided to go with the new scale at least until I go to the doctors next week and then I will see how accurate it is.
So anyway, if this scale is right, I have lost about 23 lbs in 4 weeks.  Obviously I wi**** were more.  I realize that is over 5 lbs a month but of course I lost 16 lbs at my first doctors visit 2 weeks ago so it is 7 lbs in 2 weeks, still 3 1/2 lbs a week is good.
I am nervous because my surgeon warned me that I may not lose weight because this is a revision.  I am eating about 600 calories a day but I am not very active.  I would think that I would still lose weight if my calories are lower then what I burn every day.  I also realize that my weight lose may be slow because I only have another 55 lbs that I want to lose.  I am just a little discouraged today.  I guess a year from now it won't matter.  I will either lose weight or I won't.  I just hate to think I will go through life with such a small stomach and not lose weight.

You will lose weight.  You may even need to increase your calories, and the more active you are, the better.  I originally wanted a digital scale, but they are the least accurate of any scale type so I changed my mind and got a balance beam scale, like at your doctor's office.  It's awesome!  Still, don't worry too much about the actual number; just look at the difference.

That is what I plan on doing.  I'm still planning on going by my doctors scale.  It's digital, too lol.

Usually a doctor's scale is a balance beam with a digital reading.  When you think about it, it doesn't really matter what the actual number is; the difference in more important.  Plus, if you know you're a certain amount heavier on your own scale but want to go by your doctor's scale, just subtract that amount\.  Happy weighing!

My digital scale is pretty accurate compared to my surgeon's scale. I very consistantly weigh two pounds more at the dr's office than at home. (But at home I weigh naked and 1st thing in the morning before any food or drink).

No matter what the scale says or how accurate it is, you have lost weight! 2-3 pounds a week is very good and right on track. Some people would kill for loss like that. Get the surgeon's possible "warning" out of your head and don't let it interfere with your success! You are doing great!

Actually, 23 pounds in 4 weeks is awesome!  and 3 1/2 lbs a week is great too.  It sounds to me like you are right on track with someone who hasn't had a revision.

Get the Dr's negative words out of your head - and prove him wrong!  You'll do a great job - its already showing!!

You will eat lower calories at first - don't let that bother you too much.  Just be sure to get your protein, vits and fluids in - it all happens in time!

Actually, I wish I was back to that stage at times... seemed like it was much simpler then!!  Your pouch told you what you could/couldn't eat versus your head - LOL...

My Dr's scales are a little lower than mine, and I use my scale for what I consider my official weighs - like Shannon said, I weigh nekked first thing in the morning and at the Dr's I've eaten/drank and have clothes on - so it pretty much works out.  AND I weigh every day.

Are you tracking your weight loss? When I lost a lb I'd put it on my tracker.  Then I could go back and see how I did from month to month.  Sometimes that kept my sanity, especially when I thought I was in a stall - I found most of the time I really wasn't...

Everyone dreams of losing a lot of weight really fast, but the truth is most of us lost it steady and slower after the first week or 2 only at a rate of a couple of pounds a week.  Believe me those couple of pounds seem to add up really quickly and in less than a year most of us are at goal.

Take your measurements, post on fitday.com or dailyplate.com, get your protein in, take your vitamins, drink your fluids, and watch your "bad" carbs and you'll get to goal.
