Has anyone else gotten taller?

Pre-surgery I was pretty consistently measured at 5'2.5".  I JUST EEKED BY in BMI to get insurance approval.

At my 5 week post-op appointment, however, the nurse measured me at 5'4"!!! I asked her to do it a few more times, and the measurement was consistently the same.

How is this possible?  Has the weight-loss pulled more weight off of my spine, allowing me to stand up taller?  Am I experiencing a "25" year-old (I'm celebrating my 25th birthday - again - on Sunday) growth spurt?

Whatever the reason, I'm glad to be taller.  People always told me they thought I was taller than 5'2.  I thought it was just my "tall attitude" but perhaps there's something else going on...

Anyone else experience this?

I have been 4'11 my whole life. All of the sudden after losing a bunch of weight, I am 5'0". And I measured that at 2 different Dr's offices and had my hubby measure at home. So down went the BMI just by taking some pressure of the joints!

I wonder if our butts shrinking as we lose the weight contributes to the difference in height measurement.
Now I have to measure myself to see if it is true by me too that I got taller.

Yup, I "grew" 3/4 of an inch in the first 6 months after RNY and went from 5' to 5' 3/4".  I discovered it when I went for a GYN appointment.  I was surprised to hear what my height was and had the nutritionist check at my next appointment with her.  Sure enough, she confirmed the increase in height.  Not enough to make a change in my BMI but still very cool just the same!

Cool, maybe I will see 5'2"!
I guess without the weight literally pulling us down, it makes sense.
