Home!
Well, I made it. I had to stay an extra night in the hospital due to a low heart rate and low blood pressure - but it all worked itself out and I'm home now.
I went for a walk this morning with my son, for about 15 minutes. Well, I guess the walking moved things along because I got home just in time for my first BM. Good to know that still works.
I'm pretty much just hanging out, sipping my liquids and making sure to eat my meals - not hungry really at all but I know I have to eat to heal. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach just really tight across my abdomen.
So one interesting thing happened during my surgery - the tool they use - some kind of electric scalpel? wouldn't work. Apparently it had a bad power cord so they had to wait to get another one. I don't recall any of this so it must've been while I was already under anesthesia. Glad they worked it out though. You always fear something will go wrong and you'll wake up and they couldn't do the surgery - and it almost happened.
So will this feeling of being kicked in the stomach go away? How long? Any tips for getting myself feeling better?

I actually likened the feeling to "someone hit me in the stomach with a baseball bat"... it will go away, but can take its time. Just be gentle and baby it.
Wow - sounds like a lot happened to you- glad it all worked out ok and you were able to have the surgery. I would have been SO disappointed if I woke up and the Dr didn't do it...
Just take it easy - don't try to do too much too fast, sip, walk (not too much) and get in what you can. Be sure to try and incorporate your protein drinks. Its probably where you'll be getting most of your nutrients from right now.
Glad you're back and OK!

Welcome home!! Glad things eventually worked out.
I was sore for about 6 wks...less each day. ENJOY not being hungry LOL. The tool will help with that TOO after your hunger does come back.
Listen to your body, rest when you need to, walk as you can, same ole...drink you fluids and protein, yada, yada, yada. It takes time, but doing what you are suppose to do will get you there as quick as you CAN get there.
Take care, and keep us posted on how you are doing.

I was wondering when we would get to hear from you! Glad all went well. My surgery was two weeks ago today and I am no longer sore. My incisions have healed and the scabs have fallen off. I'm still trying to figure out when I am full and such. It is hard to tell. I struggled with drinking the shakes the first week, but am doing fine with it now.
Take care of yourself!

Cait, how are you feeling this morning?
As far as that kick in the stomach, I ended up having my Sleeve, hernia repair and liver biopsy all done at the same time, so I'm not sure which of them kicked me.
When you feel up to it, please let us know how you're doing.
