cost of initial blood work

Had no idea blood work is so very expensive... $2500 billed to me (as I didn't have my insurance card before the appointment -- they so kindly knocked off $900 for me, isn't that nice of them).  I about flipped when I saw the total -- then called with the insurance info.

I've had cholesterol blood work every 3 months for the past 20 years... had NO idea...  Is this what it will be going forward after surgery???  What has your experience been --- do your insurance companies generally cover this after care???

Thx.
Meg

Yes, its amazing how much it costs - and yes, my insurance has picked up most of it every time.

I have had my labs done every 3 months since surgery and a few things even more often as rechecks and my insurance has paid for it all.
