Upper Endoscopy

Well I had the endoscopy today. All went well thank you all for your support and well wishes. I do have a hiatal hernia and gastritis going on but no strictures or anything. He prescribed me new medication to deal with the acid and put me back on liquids for another month yuck!!! I did have stomach pain after the procedure from the bipopsy but fentanyl too care of that and I just woke up from getting home at 1 pm. I will follow up in 2 weeks and all my results went to my primary care.

Just a side note for those that have had surgery abroad. It has not been a scary process with making sure I have been taken care of. I have all the documentation from my surgeon and I also did my research and picked a wonderful surgeon that does followup and answer any of my question. All I do is follow up with my PCM and I found a good GI doctor and I am good to go. I did have the sleeve so the maintenance is really not all that complicated. I just wanted to put that out there for those that are still in the beginning stages. You do need a good support system and my husband has  been great. Thanks again for all the support you all are the best.

PS I wlll have to scan the pictures of my new tummy and post the pictures. The GI doctor gave me a copy.

I'm so glad you were checked out and there's no stricture but I sure wish they had fixed your hiatal hernia when they were in there. Perhaps you can control things but if not you have a good GI doc, so it's all good.

I dont think it can be done just  with an endoscopy Gina .   Mine was fixed during my RNY and apparently it required extra cuts and a lot of time .....  of course mine was really Large - the biggest my surgeon had ever seen he told me  afterwards ....

I STILL cant throw up  no matter how bad i feel nor do i get gerd  even without medication ...so Im SO GLAD he did fix it ...  no more getting up in the middle of the nite with stomach pain  ...no more persistent pain if i ever forget my three types of ( shockingly expensive ) meds ......YAY !!

Yeah, that's what I meant...when they gave her the sleeve, I wish they'd gone ahead and fixed the hiatal hernia. It's bad enough with a big stomach, much less a tiny one.

Sorry to hear about another month of liquids, but so glad to hear your tummy will be on the mend!
Hope you will be feeling tip top soon.

I'm on day 13 of Optifast with one small meal and the first was the worst.  After a few days, you get used to it and it isn't so bad.  I imagine you can have a lot more variety so you should be fine.
I have a large hiatal hernia that will be repaired during my RNY.
