Non Scale Victories

So, I consider this a non scale victory. I remember the time in my life that if I wanted to snack, I would choose foods that had a high glycemic index and weren't good for my diabetes when I used to have it. Tonight while I was snacking on what I'd call whole foods, nothing processed, healthy carbs, mostly veggies and some awesome artesian bread I thought back to my ice cream and oreos days and never want to go back. I don't even miss those foods anymore.

Who would have ever thought I'd chose healthy foods in healthy serving sizes. When the scale moves slow for this lightweight, I have to be able to see and feel all these victories!

I couldn't agree more! Congratulations on making the switch to craving healthy foods. I think I can say the same for myself and I love it too!

Don't even get me started on the slow loser part
.

Hey, I almost forgot... love your new avatar! Very nice.

YES!  I've noticed that I'll get a craving now and think, "gosh, I just HAVE to have some brocolli/ricotta/fish!"  Weird but so so so so wonderful

I love those little things that happen. It's not just the number on the scale or the clothing size, it's about our health and lifestyle. We are all so much better off than before surgery. Lee and I were talking about that yesterday with our exercise. We are doing things that we never would have imagined. There were nights that my husband would run to the gas station and get a family size bag of doritos and two big ice cream treats and we would sit there and eat it all. I can't even imagine eating something like that now!

Andrea,
I love your new avatar.  Congratulations on your NSV.  All of our victories are great whether they are on the scale or off the scale.

I have unfortunately seen a few things creep back into my life - such as snacking at night while I'm watching TV and bored.  Got to stop this.  I know there are a few food I just need to stop buying and having in the house because they are now a problem.  They were not at first, but seem to have become one lately.

You have done a great job - keep it up.

Hi Linda, Living alone, I used to be a late night snacker too.  What I find now is that after dinner I just don't have room to snack, unless I were to select "slider foods" which I try not to have in the house.  I used to have a 16 oz cup of tea in the evening but this summer I stopped doing that because my dinners were a little bigger (eating salads with my protein).   With Zach gone, already last night I got in a big cup of camomile tea before bedtime.   I too have to be very careful to not do any "bored" eating.  I'm going to really heed your words and be careful not to start so that I won't have to quit.  There's nobody here to tempt me except myself!
