so i switched my surgery to a vsg......thought i got approval

only to find out my surgeons office submitted it for a RNY

yea so i really am not approved and really don't have a surgery date

Well it certainly stinks that you have to go through that wait again...  but at least it's a "small" bump in the road.  If the insurance for some reason turns down the VSG, you know you have the approval for RNY.  I hope things are expediated since you have submitted the paperwork already and just are asking for a switch of procedures.

Awww - sorry to hear that.  That can be SO frustrating. 

I'd ask to keep the date for a bit more in case they come back quickly.  All they can do is say no.

Has Tricare added the VSG? Last I heard it was band or RNY...that's the extent of their "know-how", unless you go to Madigan in WA state where they have a military surgeon that does the DS and if he knows how to do the DS, he knows how to do the VSG.

Yea if your military only you can only get VSG via MTF....they still don't do VSG's unfortunately which is why I was so excited when we got Fed BCBS

its just a hassle
