on the subject of low blood sugar..
Mid 40's isn't fine, silly. LOL....and when I got into the 20's my lights went out. I woke up to paramedics staring at me. As the Brits say, 4 on the floor...meaning anything below 70 and you will hit the floor (4 is the equilvelant of 70 on our meters). Normal is between 70 and 100.
Call you doctor and ask him to get you tested for reactive hypoglycemia and hand him the articles posted in my blog.

that's why i put fine into quotation marks. the different readings i have been taking read in the 40's when i am not feeling grim, but in the "normal" for post surgery range-the 20's readings are when i feel truly terrible. hence my sarcasm at saying i will be calling my doctor in the morning.

Gisele,
You really need to call your doctor ASAP. That is extremely low if the meter is correct. Did you put the code into it for your strips? Mine would give bad readings, if I did not put the correct code in for my strips.
You might need to get some Glucose tablets to keep around.
Good luck and let us know what the doctor says.

the monitoring system i have is "no coding" and the strips are the correct ones from the same manufacturer.
i am not familiar with the process so it may very well be wonk though i have had a diabetic coaching me through the testing and am following the directions. (i find it amusing that i need to have the lancer set to maximum to even pierce my leathery fingertips)
the symptoms i have been having certainly seem to point towards low blood sugar.
though-i have never had "off" bloodwork as regards glucose.
we shall see. i have not been "right"for a longtime.

When you poke your finger, do not poke your thumb or your index as they are the toughest. Also do not poke dead on...but off to the side some if you look at your finger as a clock and the top of the finger is 12 (nail is the outside of the clock) , poke about 10 or 2. Liz

Oh my... I also have Reactive Hypoglycemia - but I have self diagnosed it... and I KNOW what triggers it in me....
I haven't purchased a home kit yet, but am seriously thinking about it. I have found myself on the floor a month or so ago.. with my son going "MOM are you OK?"... ummm NOOOOO...
