Fitness Challenge - August 15th
Good Morning Peeps!
My mom would have been 94 today if she hadn't passed away at 87. She suffered from Altzheimers. When she was 85 she had a stroke that left her unable to speak except one sentence to me the last time I saw her. The doctors convinced my dad that she would get better so he had her put on a feeding tube. I felt bad that he had to watch her suffer for 1.5 years. So what the heck does this have to do with fitness? I am so hoping to avoid things like stroke, heart disease (that my dad had), dialysis for 4 years that my dad had. Both of my parents never ate fat, both weighed under 120 pounds (little people). I figure the best thing that I can do for myself is get healthy which means a strong heart, lungs, muscles etc. I am definitely doing that and I'm really proud of my couch potato self for getting moving on a daily basis. I see from my parents that just a low number on the scale doesn't insure good health.
I thought for sure I'd get a rest day today after yesterday's workout. My thighs are calling my name, even my abs hurt. Oh well, the boss in charge of exercise said we're going down for our last chance workout before he leaves in the morning.
I guess I'm getting in 40 minutes of cardio, weights and 150 crunches. After that I'm getting in bacon and an egg. hehehe...... My favorite breakfast spot is calling my name.
What's your Sunday look like? Why do you exercise?

Enjoy the boss and the breakfast today, Lee.
I enjoy walking. When I was military it was running or running stairs every day. You just kind of get in the groove.
Today is laundry (up and down stairs) and babysitting.

Nothing as exciting as your hike but I spent 45 minutes pulling weeds out of flower beds that had been deglected in the heat. Felt good to get it done and they look so much better.
I exercise because because my most fond times are spent with my horses. And to do the things I want to do with them, I have to be mobile and somewhat fit. It will be so much easier when I'm not carrying arond so much weight. I want to be able to ride again. Now I just drive my ponies because of the weight. I want to be able to drive both in one day without feeling exhausted. I know my arthritus will be worse if I don't keep moving.
