Fitness Challenge - Friday August 13th

Oh boy.  I woke up to a very stiff lower back.  I had a feeling I shouldn't do that leg press machine last night.  I thought maybe it would be my "get out of the gym pass card this morning"  but trainer Zach seems to think that as long as I'm walking it will be good for me to walk it out.  Darn, and I thought I could laze around instead.

So I guess I'm headed to the gym before a day of running errands to REI, Ikea, Bed Bath and Beyond and then to the movies to see Inception in IMAX.

Zach leaves Monday very early so I only have three gym days left with him.  I love doing the eliptical while he's running on the treadmill next to me. The time flies by and I barely notice that I'm working out.

Did I mention that I've been at 183.something for two weeks now?  I can't seem to break this long stall, but I'll keep trying!

My plan is to do 30-60 minutes of cardio this morning.  Not sure how much eliptical, tread, bike and rower or what combo, but I've got my gym clothes on and I'm finishing off my cup of tea.

Ready, set, row!  What are you up to today?

Good morning! Today is supposed to be my day off, but I will probably walk on the treadmill later. That's my day off, just no running or weights. Tomorrow morning I am going to Gold's with my mom, so that will be intense. I'm going to start going with her once a weekend, just to do some machines I don't have access to at home.

Shannon, how cool that you go to Gold's with your mom!  I have a Gold's a few blocks away that I used to belong to, but now i have a big gym in my building.

I know what you mean about the "day off".  I generally just walk around the lake on my day off (3.5miles) but I don't do the cardio, weights etc.

I worked both ponies this morning.  Boy did it get hot while I was working the second one but we got it done.
Went to the grocery for the first time since starting the Optifast diet.  Yuck.  No fun looking at stuff you can't eat.  So far, I've been faithful to the diet with the exception of maybe some extra veggies but that can't be really cheating.

Price, I think you're doing fabulous, both with your exercise and diet.  Congrats on doing the Optifast.  I didn't have a liquid diet, just a goal to maintain until surgery so that they wouldn't send me home.  I give all of you liquid dieters a lot of kudos.

Hey Diana,  so happy to see you checking in here.  I'm just marking your spot until you make it back to getting us going in the morning.   I hope your stress levels are coming down and that things are more peaceful.  I have no fears about you permanently playing hookie.  I know you'll be back!

Lee - you are such an inspiration!  I betcha when you lose - it will 4-5 lbs at one time...

Well - my miles was riding a motorcycle - 250 miles of it.  While I like to try and convince myself that is exercise in itself (well, I have to balance, keep myself upright, fight headwinds...) its not quite the same as walking or jogging... but its all I'm doing today.  But it still tires me out....

Tomorrow will be much of the same - except there'll be 4 tires beneath me - lol.  Going to a wedding and the trip is 4 hours 1 way.  Hopefully I can get my exercise in dancing???

Hey Jody, I've been missing you here in the exercise thread.

I was behind a whole group of Harley riders on the highway today and I thought of you.  I think it's awesome that you ride!

Dancing  is fantastic exercise!  You go girl.  :)

It's been a long time since I have ridden a motorcycle but I remember it as taking a lot of energy.  Kind of like riding a horse.  I do carriage driving now because of the weight on my hips and knees but one of my goals is to get back on my horse and ride.
I really believe that all of our goals sould be to be more active, which doesn't necessarily mean spending time in the gym.  Dancing, gardening, playing should be more important.  Living life to it's fullest.
