Three weeks out

Is it normal to be so tired?  I had fatigue before surgery, which was one of the reasons I decided to go ahead, hoping it would get better.  Now I am even more tired.  How soon before I feel better?  I notice I am hardly eating any carbs.  Would that contribute to my being tired?  I am getting at least 60 grams of protein every day.

It could be a number of things...but I bet it just early from surg.  It could also be not enough carbs, try upping them to 60+ a day and try to get out of ketosis.  Are you drinking 64+ oz fluid a day...dehydration can cause fatigue.  I would also suggest you call your doctor, he would want to know.  Good luck, and congrats on your surg.

I am drinking constantly (except when I eat of course).  Not sure how to add carbs since my nutritionist said to eat protein first and by the time I eat that I am full.  My carbs yesterday were about 17.
Thanks for the congrats.

It took me until about week 4 before I started feeling like myself again.  Your body is going through a lot right now.  Just follow the doctors orders and call them if you feel anything isn't right, but until I was eating soft foods I had little to no energy.  Don't worry, you are almost out of the worst of it!  It only get BETTA!!!!!

Are you talking enough B12? I am 4 days out and taking a 1000mcg sublingual B12 daily right now which is probably a little more than I need but it does help. It looks like you are getting decent protein so would definitely just say try nudging your fluids up and perhaps try making sure you are eating every 2 hours even if it is a popsiscle.

IMHO you need a bit more carbs.  Try some milk or yogurt.  If you are allowed, have 1/4 of a piece of super dry whole wheat toast.  I kid you not, you will feel a world of better, just that little bit.

Are you taking b-12, vitamin D, etc. It seems that when I was 3 weeks out I was extremely tired too. When the doctor checked my blood I was low in both b12 and vitamin D. He upped both and I began to feel better. You should bounce back a little more by the end of week 4. Give yourself time you have been through a major surgery. Best of luck to feeling like yourself soon! Danielle
