Well yesterday I had lunch wit my son at Panera bread and all we each had was soup. I had french onion soup and he had chicken noodle. I ate it at a normal pace for a sleever but for some reason it did not sit right and I had my first run to the restroom where things came up.

Well for the rest of the day my stomach felt gasy with fluids or when I tried to eat some more soup as well. Nothing goes down and I took some gas x and aciphex and woke up this morning to a sour stomach felling like square one again. I am 6 weeks out so I dont think I should really be prone to a leak at this moment I feel really sour and Just need some advice.

Any tips even with drinking water it doesnt sit well. I know it has been really hot here and I have been gettig my fluids in but could it be dehydration?

Did it have cheese on that soup ?   Real fatty cheese  can definitely cause  acidreflux for me .....

Sorry  U feel so bad .... id stick to high fiber  no fat choices for a bit and see if that  cures ya .

It had a couple of shavings of cheese but nothing to sneeze at. I woke this morning feeling the same way as I did yesterday. Yuck.

I am still early out so you know my mind wrestles with "what could go wrong".

A couple of things come to mind; acid and dehydration.  Sleeves tend to produce a lot of acid early out and you may need to add another antacid or combine 2 antacids. Dehydration can definitely contribute to nausea too. You might try water with a squirt of lemon or lime to help your tummy accept it.

The worst case scenario would be a stricture. That would be when you can't even keep water down. If you need medical attention, don't hesitate to go to Fairfax ER. You could get a bag or 2 of fluids there if you are dehydrated.  I hope you feel better today.

 Hi Gina how are you?

I have been trying to get as much water as I possibly could in on average I get about 40oz and another 10 -12 from things like popsicles and such. I put a little but of crystal light in it as I dont want the full taste of it. I am one of those people that actually enjoys drinking water.

If it is a stricture would I require surgery again to streatch it back out? Basically I feel really gasy and like all the acids in my stomach are sitting in my chest.

A bag or 2 of fluids still would not be a bad idea with this heat and the fact that I leave for florida next week.

I hope you feel better my son had a summertime cold about a month ago.

Take care.

Usually they can fix a stricture by using a scope and stretching it out...no real surgery. I hope you can get it sorted out quickly.

When we get back to town at the same time, I'd like to meet up at Bone Fish one Sat for lunch. Take care and have fun in FL.

That sounds wonderful to me. I am not looking forward to the heat but I am sure my son will have a blast.

Awww ... A lot of people here take  prevacid ... stuff like that ....  theres a thread  just below this maybe U should read ...

I had chronic acid reflux from a hiatal hernia before  my surgeon sewed me up .  had he found one of those  Urs would have been fixed too  so i doubt U have one .   But many people do take antacids /acid suppressors after surgery .

Me personally im so glad to finally be OFF them ...and i eat with very little  fat so as not to trigger  the release of all that acid .

Yeah I was trying to think of a trigger and I have been a stickler to eating good. maybe it was the bit of cheese or something. I also had Paneer in masala the day before so that could have done it as well.

The reason I had it was because it is a good source of protein and easier to get down versus chicken for me. Thank you for talking this through with me I really appreciate it.

I have the sleeve as well. Since day 1 I have taken prilosec 2 times a day. I have missed a couple of doses along the way, and I feel it! The surgeon's office said I may have to be on it for life. Also along the way I have gone through phases with different foods that didn't agree with me for awhile, now pretty much everything is ok. Maybe you are no good with onions, but in a month it will be fine?
