Could the bus that hit me please contact me with insurance information?!?!
Holy mackeral I am feeling my decision today! It is a little less painful to get up and such but my upper abdomen and chest feel like I'm getting over a case of bronchitis minus the wheezing and coughing. I've been doing my incentive spirometry so I'm 99.9% certain the lungs are good and this is just a matter of being sore where they connected all the dots.
On a happy note the scale fell 4 lbs... granted I know that is probably water weight but son of a gun I'm taking it and claiming it to push through this soreness!

Well, that was probably the WLS Welcome Wagon rather than a run away bus. lol
It will get better in about a week. Keep walking and using the spirometer. You'll be surprised how quickly you start to feel better. Hang tough, babeee!

I'm sure you are right. I had my first escapade with drinking too fast last night when I tried to do my Citracal Petite in only 2 pieces and it got hung. I had to drink big sips to get it down and I about paid the price to the porcelain king. Luckily I got a belch out at just the right time and life was civil again. It almost felt like how people describe dumping for those few minutes though of getting shaky and such. No more of that game.
I'm a tad burned out on room temperature water this morning so just upgraded to some chilled Crystal Light that I am letting warm in my mouth a bit before swallowing the tiny sips. I'm going to rock this tool, I'm just ready for the rock in my pouch to get moving a bit. I'm getting awesome bowel sounds now though so it should be getting better sooner rather than later.

Hey Cort, Gina is right. The welcome wagon was hauling a Loser's Bench on the back end but it fell off and gave you a bump. I hear it takes a couple of days and then you'll forget it ever happened.
Feel better and congrats on that 4 pounds!

Hey Cort -
I am a few days ahead of you (Aug 5 surgery). It does get better - - - - but SLOWLY. Once the bowel sounds started for me, I started dealing with gas pains. I am telling you - - - - it has NEVER felt so good to pass gas as it has after this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!LOL What relief!!!!!
I have only had protein shakes/drinks, crystal lite, broth and water until yesterday. Last night I had a little organic smooth butternut squash soup (maybe 1/8 cup) and shortly after paid for it with (TMI) - water diarrhea and abdomenal cramps! That stressed me out (aside from the pain) because I felt like I needed to replace all of tha****er that I had worked so hard all day to get in.
No regrets here, but I am a little stressed with trying to make all of this work, heal, and worry about going back to work. Fortunately, I can be flexible with my work schedule when I go back next week, but I don't feel like I have any control over this thing yet.
Your soreness will get remarkably better each day. And hey - - - glad to hear your scale is moving. I lost 12 lbs on the pre-op liquid diet, gained back six in the hospital, and today have lost 5 - so one more pound and I am back to pre-surgery weight.
Is your upper tummy swollen (where your pouch is)? Mine is really protruding in that particular spot. Hope that swelling goes down soon.

I'm supposed to start trying to get protein once I get approved to move to full liquids this afternoon at my appt. They want us to start with trying to get 30-40g a day to start so that we don't make ourselves sick.
I'm not really swollen from what I can tell, I do have one area by an incision that is really indented like it is sorta caved in. I had only lost a few lbs on my pre-op diet because the surgeon still wanted me to get 1500 calories a day then had gained up to surgery weight again because I got bloated before surgery and was spooting already.
The pain comes and goes but since I'm getting the gas out both ways it helps.

I have chewable multis and the sublingual B12 and Zofran. I couldn't find the calcium citrate chewables before I went and got the Citracal Petites. I'm going to try breaking them into 4 pieces and see if that works, if not I'll just have to do the calcium carbonate when I "eat" until I can get some calcium citrate chewables ordered. Sadly, I love the Caltrate Chewables but they were carbonate so I had given them to my menopausal friend since she can't really afford to go buy calcium right now but the Dr. wants her to take it.
I do wish they had given me a pill form of pain neds because the oxycodone liquid tastes harsh so it makes me dread taking it.
Btw, I totally get what people are talking about now when they say stuff tastes different post-op. I was shocked when my sf pineapple popsicle tasted horrible last night. Jello tastes heavenly though. I'm just glad to be hitting the losers bench that I feel guilty even whining in the least about the cons of the newly post-op stuff.

I took a liquid pain med called Loritab. Doesn't taste too bad - used it too after my PS and it works great.
Don't waste your time or money with the Calcium Carbonate - you won't absorb it. You'll be ok waiting for the Calcium Citrate chewables to arrive.
I am almost 2 years out and still have issues with swallowing pills. I still prefer chewables and buy them whenever I can.
What chewable multis are you taking? The Centrum Silver tastes pretty good and I like the Bariatric Advantage Watermelon.

I have liquid oxy so it gives me the double vision and all once it kicks in but it tip toes with the pain. I'm doing Centrum Chewables. My shower just made me nauseated and woozy, I'm thinking the steam combined with having slower fluid intake. I'm not a fan of the Zofran sublinguals that he prescribed because Zofran does not do much for me when it comes to nausea but I'm going to have to suck it up and use one here momentarily.
