2 weeks of liquids?? oh no!!
I'm not going to preach that the pre-op diet is all fun or anything. The different flavors of Crystal Light and such will help. Different popsicles help with the urge to chew. I got to have a solid MEAL or 2 snacks and then had to do Carnation Instant Breakfast SF to replace what I couldn't eat.
The good news is the 2 weeks will absolutely fly by and before you know it you'll be waking up from surgery and you will NOT have the urge to actually eat or hunger. Dry mouth is harsh but my nurse let me brush my teeth which helped a ton. Head hunger may hit you early or it may not. So far I see stuff I "daydream" about tasting again, oddly most of it is healthy because I want the weight gone so bad.
Last but certainly not least, GOOD LUCK! The loser's bench is fantastic!

I'm not gonna lie, the liquid diet was the most difficult part of the whole process for me. I got so sick of fruity stuff (jello, crystal light, sf popsicles) I have not had any of them since. I just kept reminding myself that it was for my safety and health, plus losing a pound a day or more was a great incentive. I cheated a couple of times, only a couple of ounces of bonless skinless chicken with nothing on it. The whole point of the diet is basically no carbs, which burns fat off the liver and shrinks it back. Some surgeons only require extreme low carb, not liquids.
For me, the first 2-3 days of the liquid diet were the worst! After that, the hunger went away and it was somewhat easier. I had days when I wanted/needed to chew. I chewed on ice chips and sf popsicles. Something about the crunch factor that helped. It may be tough, but its soooooo worth it! Best of luck with your surgery. Keep us updated on your journey. Cindy
