Hi Trudy.  I know you wanted to hear from those who don't track...but no one is biting.  A friend of mine just doesn't....but I know she is over eating at times.

I track on Fitday.com.  I didn't want to at first because I thought it would take too much time, and when would I do it etc., etc., bla, bla, bla.  But I needed to be sure I was getting in enough protein and it was the only way I could be half way accurate.  I post at work in the a.m. and it helps keep me on track.  Also if the scale is not moving and I know I am not going over my allotments in carbs and calories and getting enough protein, I just need to be patient, cause I am doing the right things....I don't have to wonder if I am or not or cut back severely to try and compensate.  So it is reassurance and insurance for me.

Good luck with your decision.  I would suggest trying it for a week or two and see what you think.

I don't log or track.  BUT, I've paid for it.  Tomorrow is my one year surgiversary and I've been stalled for close to 6 months.  I'm very comfortable and happy where I am but according to the surgeon, need to lose 6 more lbs.  I'd like to lose at least 10.
Today I went on Fitday.com and logged my food.  I was trying to be really good today, except I went out to breakfast and that screwed me up.  Just had to try pancakes!  Fool!  Anyway, before even having dinner I'm up to 1300 calories and 87 grams of protein!!!!!!!  I had 2 protein shakes today because I knew I wouldn't get enough protein with that lousy breakfast. (I'm been eating eggs for breakfast for ages and really wanted something different).
Moral of my story, don't trust yourself.  Track your calories, log your food.  Once you make it a habit it won't seem like such a chore!  That's what I'm going to do.
Good luck to you!

I am still pre surgery but have been using myfitnesspal for several years, off and on.  I start the 4 week optifast that my surgeon requires on Sat so I see no reason to use it then, VBG.  However, I plan to use it again.  It is reasuring when the scale isn't moving and you know you are doing things right.  I think it will be even more important once I am eating again.
