Hi Cort,

You will do fine and you sound like you are doing this for all the right reasons.  I wanted to let you know, your daughter probably won't remember how you were.... I just posted about this the other day on another board if you want to read it: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_lightweights/4215330/M y-daughter-did-not-recognize-me-PHOTO/

In the meantime, just do what everyone mentions, relax, clean, get organized and get excited to start your new life!  GOOD LUCK - it's a wild ride!!!

I guess I was lucky as I didnt have a case of the nerves before surgery. I was excited.  Overjoyed that I would be living a healthier lifestyle.  Have faith in yourself that you did all your homework getting to this point and have faith in your surgeon & his staff.  Try to keep busy - go for walks, visit with supportive friends & family.  Pre-cook some meals that you can put in the freezer for family members to eat while you are recooperating.  You are about to embark on a very exciting journey, you will do great!!!  Keep us updated on your journey.  Cindy

I'm nervous as a cat too!!!  The only surgery I have ever had was a planned c-section (twins).  I remember shaking in the bed the whole night before.

I was not super nervous about the WLS until I went for pre-op testing this past Wednesday.  I got sick and almost passed out when they did the ABG test.  Since then, I have been quite nervous.  It is worse when I am home and have time for running things over and over in my brain.  I am too busy at work to think about it.

So....I am trying to stay busy this weekend to keep my mind off of it.

My situation is a little different than yours.  My boys are 16 (going on 17) - - - - not quite the same as having a little one.  It may be therapeutic for you to write letters if you feel it is necessary.

This surgery is going to be great for us and as my husband reminded me yesterday....there are thousands of people that have had these same nervous feelings, had successful surgery, and are now living a good, healthy life afterwards.

I think I've gotten a better handle on it now but we'll see how I do this weekend lol. I did pretty good until I signed all the consent forms at the surgeon's office that I definitely want to go through with it and did all my pre-admission. That was when the nutty nerve**** like an Amtrak train.

I can do this. I've got people ready to swing lizards, say prayers, and who knows what else.

This is completely normal. Just imagine yourself BEING there for all those milestones. Before sugery I used to imagine what if's because of my poor health taking me before I was ready. I imagined who my husband would marry when I was gone to take my place to help him raise these 2 amazing kids. That is SCARY! That is when I decided I had to do something about it.

Weight loss surgery has given me my life back! This weekend I went to a water park with my kids by myself. I road bumper boats in a tankini. I fit in the top of a donut raft and didn't get my butt stuck in the hole. Ha-Ha. Go ahead...NEST do what you have to. Clean closets you haven't gotten to. Do all the heavy lifting that needs to be done now because you won't be able to do it later. Best of luck to a successful journey! Danielle
