Stupid Question......... Wrist size

I have been looking online to get information on frame size and it goes by your wrist size.  I know your wrist does not have much other than bone and skin so is it true that the size of your wrist does not change with weight loss?  Ok I did tell you it was a stupid question.

Mine sure changed with weight loss. It was never ginormous or anything, but I looked at pics immediately post op and I had a chub ring around my wrist. 60 some odd pounds later, my wrist is tiny in comparison. I think it changes the least with weight loss, but I think it still changes.

Not stupid at all - I lost about an inch on my wrist. My watch is now half way up my arm...Bit odd to work out your frame size when it changes - I have no idea now whether I'm large, medium or small!

I have had links taken out of my watch bracelet twice in the weight loss process..... not a stupid question to me!

My bracelets are all enormous and my watches, so I know even though I thought I didn't have a lot of fat there, I DID!

If you've got "padding" on your wrist, then I'm sure your wrist may get smaller as you lose weight.  But your actual bone doesn't shrink, so if you don't have a lot of padding there and you can take a measurement of the actual bone then you will be able to get a good reading on frame size there.  My wrist circumfrence hasn't changed at all, but my watches and bracelets are all too big now because I did carry weight right above my wrist and on my hands.

Mine got smaller. The wrist measurement is easy to do, but the elbow breath one is more accurate.

I never knew this was the way to tell your frame size! I just measured and confirmed that I have a small frame! Thanks!

My watch is 2 notches smaller than it was pre op!!!  What does that tell you!!  I wish that was one of the spots I measured pre op, but I didn't.  I can just tell by how loose my watch band is!!  According to those "frame" things (using the wrist) I'm probably smaller boned.....but now I have to measure it!!

Found this....I don't know how accurate it is:

Determining frame size: To determine the body frame size, measure the wrist with a tape measure and use the following chart to determine whether the person is small, medium, or large boned.

Women:

  • Height under 5'2"
    • Small = wrist size less than 5.5"
    • Medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"
    • Large = wrist size over 5.75"
  • Height 5'2" to 5' 5"
    • Small = wrist size less than 6"
    • Medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"
    • Large = wrist size over 6.25"
  • Height over 5' 5"
    • Small = wrist size less than 6.25"
    • Medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"
    • Large = wrist size over 6.5"

Men:

  • Height over 5' 5"
    • Small = wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"
    • Medium = wrist size 6.5" to 7.5"
    • Large = wrist size over 7.5"
