New and Counting
What a wonderful group of folks you all are! I've been reading your heartfelt messages for several weeks and I think this is a good place for me too.
I made my decision about 2 months ago and started getting the required pre-tests done; tomorrow my paper work goes to my insurance company for clearance. Does clearance usually take an entire month to come back? What kind of loop holes can they be looking for if you have 2 doctors seeing and recommending the same thing? Thanks to all supporting us "light weights".

It depends on your insurance. I'm lucky to live in TX and my insurer is also in TX. Down here, the law is they have to give you a determination within 3 business days. I had to get approved twice (read my profile for the details), but both approvals were complete within 3 business days.
Once you know your file has been sent to your insurance, call and ask how long the determination will take.
Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!
Blessings, Jennifer

My doctor quoted up to a month too. BUT I had to call the ins. company with a different question, and while I was on the phone I asked about the surgery approval. It has only been 2 days......i didn't expect much...Paperwork was submitted late thursday...Determination was made tuesday morning. ...they said YES!!
I think they cover their butts by telling us 30 days..it can happen faster.

Wow that's good to know! I could be a lot closer to D-Day than I thought. I only have the last 2 tests (blood work and chest xray) to complete, and those are walk-in. I will not be nervous,...I will not be nervous,....I will not be nervous!
Thanks.
