the skin thing...

I'm posting this to multiple boards, to get as much info as people might have, so apologies if you're seeing this all over the place!

Regarding this extra/mis-shapen skin and the stretch marks and all this stuff that comes from losing so much weight: I work out and do what I can to tone, but I know that some of it I am just stuck with until/unless I have plastics to correct it.

BUT...has anyone discovered anything else that is in any way helpful?  Any creams or lotions or potions?  Any herbs or vitamins or magic teas?  Anything?  Anything at all?

Thanks in advance.

Lisa

Theres no magic in a bottle... but I swear by PALMERS Cocoa butter lotions. If its gonna hang and be strechy it should atleast be moist! Goodluck

Hi.  I am 2 1/2 years post op and baby...I've got the skin to prove it. *grin*  First let me say, don't be too impatient with it.  My skin was in the most horrible shape and was not expected to shrink any because of its loss of tone.  It has, however.  I won't be wearing a bikini unless I have surgery but it is definately getting better with time.  What has worked best for me is a combination of shea butter body balm in some areas and, believe it or not, diaper rash ointment in others.  I tried several body balms until I found the one that seems to work the absolute best for me.  It is from Avon.  It's called African Shea Butter Body Balm.  It comes in a jar.  I use this on every inch of skin that is not prone to heat rash and the sort.  For those areas (ie under the apron, etc) I use diaper rash ointment.  It keeps the skin moist but rash-free.

What a wonderful idea! I never would have thought of using something from Avon. I should have as it is my hobby. Thanks for the tip. Now when I get to have my surgery done I'll know where to go for the loose skin problem. In the meantime, I'm going to start thinking about girdles.

Hello Lisa, I am new here and am just beginning to take the first steps towards surgery. I'm very excited about the possibilities but I'm also scared. One of my concerns is the loose skin. A couiple of friends told me there probably isn't any one fix but to think about using a girddle to help "keep things in place."  They mean well.  I hope when I reach the point if surgery, I will have awesome results like the people I see here. I love all the before and after photos. They are very encouraging.  Take care and good luck.
