My name is Maria and on October 12th will be 2 years since I had my open rny gastric bypass surgery! I weighed 338 pounds before the surgery and now I weigh 225 lbs. I am still trying to lose more weight, but it isn't easy!

Hi Maria, Today is my 2 year anniversary. I also had an open RNY due to previous abdominal surgeries. I weighed 254 on my surgery day and now weigh 161, up almost 10 pounds from my lowest post op weight. I know what you mean about it being harder -- much harder -- to lose more weight after 2 years out. I need to MAKE the time to exercise. I work full time and with volunteer work that's about another full time job!! Plus I have 2 teenage sons and a husband, too. My life just seems too busy to exercise which I know is no excuse! Of course, in 2 days I'll be 44 so that doesn't help the weigh come off any faster either! I do get afraid to gain the weight back. I don't think I'll let that happen but it is a fear. I had the surgery for health reasons and now all my stats are so great -- I don't have to worry about being fussed at for blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar, and even weight!! I know it gets harder the further out you are from surgery. My surgery center's support group has broken up since Katrina and I go sometimes to a local group but it's not the same. Anne

Hi, my name is Eric and I am just getting started again. I tried three years ago and the insurance I had at the time had an exclusion and wouldn’t budge. I weigh 399 and am looking to get rid of the linebacker that rides on my back everyday. Really I would like to get rid of 225 pounds. I haven’t talked to anybody on here and I hope that that is a realistic amount to loose. I was surprised that there were no support groups in Dallas so I guess that means I will just have to start one.

I was just one year last Weds (8/29), but I'm still trying to lose another 50 or so and they are holding on for dear life!  I started at 410 and now at 232.  I also turned 40 in August, so am now officially a member of this forum!  Good to see the rest of you! Lea
