Hello all.  Well I'm getting even more excited now!  I go for my Lap-Band in one week (3/27)  I've been on the Optifast Liquid Diet, today is my 8th day.  I weighed 341lbs at the begining and weighed myself today and was 327lbs.  So even though this has been very tuff for me, I mean just the Liquids, it is working!  But it has been a Monster, and to add to that I Quit Smoking!!!  So I haven't been the most Popular Guy to be around these days.  My Mom came by my house and just called me Grumpy, and left after 20mins! (lol)  I just wanted to stop and say hello to everyone! All The Best, Rocko~~

Good luck with your surgery and congratulations on quitting smoking!  I know how hard that is.  I quit 2 years ago and it is one of the hardest things I've ever done.  There are still days when I'd LOVE to have one...it's really amazing the hold those nasty things can have over you!  Hang in there, it will get easier.

Hang in there. My husband and I just went for our consult 2 days ago. We do not have to pre-diet thank goodness. But I do have t quit smoking. I quit for  4-5 weeks and am again smoking occasionally (5-7/day) vs pk/day. My Primary doc suggested a mew drug for smoking Chatist?(spelled wrong). You quit smoking after 10days then cont the med for 4-5months. They say it is good. I have start somewhere. "grumpy"can be ok sometimes. How have you done since surgery? You can do it!!!!!!

Hello, This is my first post though I have been faithfully reading this forum almost nightly.  I just had to comment on the Chantix.  IT WORKS!  I smoked for 26 years and was up to 2 1/2 packs a day.  I took Chantix as prescribed and quit.  I'm almost 3 months smoke free and feel so much better!  I was only after I tackled the smoking that I would begin to consider WLS.  I've already began all of the testing but am probably 6 months away from surgery due to insurance requirments of supervised dieting.  If Chantix helped me to quit -- it can help anyone.  The pharmacist told me everyone he has filled a Chantix prescription for has quit smoking.  It can make you sick to your stomach, especially if you smoke while taking it.  The discomfort is well worth the end result.  BEST OF LUCK!

I took chantix... fantastic drug... Started about 10 days before april fools day 07 and QUIT.... after like day 10... if you try one  (which i did) you do not feel any effect from the smoke...at that point you just ask yourself what's the point...  If you cant get a buzz off that first drag.... or feel good about that last drag... it is all kind of worthless...I have been smoking since about 1975.... full on Red box Marbs... usually 2 packs, more if I drank... to zero... I have tried patches, gum, inhaler, and that just made me want to do more... this stuff works great!
