NEWBIE HERE!!
Hello all.. !!! I am pretty new I've posted s few times and got great answers.. Just wanted to say hi!! I am very much wanting the Roux-N-Y surgery and am making an appointment now for a referral to Albany med bariatrics from my primary now that I just got MVP insurance here in upstate NY. I have a bmi of 44 and weigh over 245 lbs & and i'm 5'3" tall. I'm afraid of rejection..I'm pessimistic.. My Dr had mentioned WLS over a year ago but I never pursued it. I don't have a chronic illness's like diabetes (although my grandmother died from diabetes,my mother and my aunt both have diabetes ( my aunt's diabetes is literally killing her and she problably won't make it another year ) & my uncle andI think my brother will end up with diabetes
. I do get winded after short walks and have high cholestrol. Is that enough to be considered for WLS? I appreciate the help! thanks! rae

Hello!
I am a newbie also. Your weight and height is nearly identical to mine. I am going thru the Long process of gaining approval and hope to have surgery scheduled for this summer. (I want to wait til school is out as I work at an elementary school). I will keep you posted as to my progress. I'd love to hear from you.

Hi there! I started researching WLS about 3 years ago and just had my RNY on 1/31/07. Wished I had done it sooner, but circumtances, anyway I also did not have any other disease besides obesity. I have diabetes on both side of parents, my mom's was onset in her 50's so it's not in early on. As far as being qualified, it depends on what your primary doctor thinks and if your insurance is going to cover it.
Best of luck to you, ~Dora
