Hello There I was wondering if anyone out there has had previous bariatric surgery, lost the weight (I lost 170lbs) in 9 months and 2 months post-op I became pregnant with my 2nd child. This was back in 1991, they didn't tell you to use precautions. Since then I have had 2 more children for a total of 4 children (3 boys, 1 girl) They range in age 17, 14, 12, 05. I am not having anymore children. Anyway, I had VBG done in March 1991 and had it reversed in 1996 due to the food sticking GERD, vomiting, etc. They did not remove the staples, they left them in there and just removed the bullet proof material (restraint) in the stomach. Last year I weighed a whopping 400lbs because of certain meds I was on. I have since come off of them and I am down to 315lbs and have been at this weight for 4 months and can't seem to lose anymore. I have been researching Surgeons and Dr. Andre Nunn caught my attention. I am from Bethany, Ontario, Canada and the wait here is 4-5 years for bariatric surgery. I am willing to go under the knife again to lose this excess weight. Things have changed in the past 15 years. They now send you to dieticians and everything else. BAck in 1991 they did the surgery and that was that. I believe you had 1-2 follow-up appointments and you were on your own. No teaching how to eat properly, balanced meals, nothing like today. With my knowledge now and reading everyone's stories I have learned a great deal. I also had 2 complications post-op in 1991 and 1996. The 1st operation they left me in bed for 2 days and on the 10th day I developed a Pulmonary embolous, put on blood thinners for 3 months. In 1996 I believe it was a full day before they got me out of bed and on the 10th day I had another Pulmonary embolous, again blood thinners for 3 months. Since then I have had 3 surgeries and no complications, just a shot of blood thinner post-op and my haematologist assures me it is safe for me to have bariatric surgery, so, I am going for it? I am having a difficult time locating a Doctor who will even see me or want to do the surgery because of my previous blood clots. I f anyone out there has experienced what I have been through, or have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks for now Emerald

Depending on what state you are in there should be a top notch bariatric surgeon there to go see and ask. I am traveling to GA to have mine from SC. I would suggest you look into places that have recieved the Center Of Excellence certification. You can fiind them at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicareApprovedFacilitie/BSF/list.asp#TopOfPage Just click on Show item in State your in: it will bring up a list if any are there. You may have to consider going out of state.
