I wondered how others feel about being in their 40's and just entering a new phase in life. I have to say that I love my 40's. Even over 500 lbs and not very mobile I was enjoying it emotionally more than any other era. And now that I'm losing weight and entering a new phase in life it's going to be even better. In fact, I think I'll feel younger than ever. I think my life experiences have brought me to a better place. I look at the 20 and 30 something's that I work with and am so glad I don't deal with the things they do. I know myself better than ever and like I said, even with the extra weight, I am more comfortable with who I am. In my soul. Does that sound crazy? One thing I wonder about. People think I'm in my 30's. I think it's because the fat pushed out the potential wrinkles. Once I lose my weight, I'm afraid I'm going to look really old because not only will I have wrinkles, but they will be saggy ones at that. Oh well, I guess I'll have to start spending money on good facial products. Anyway, anyone else feel this way?

I turned 40 in Feb. It is really hard for me! LOL The best thing I did was have WLS. However I know that plastic surgery is for sure in my future! My neck, arms, girls, and tummy are going to need some help

I can relate to the feeling that plastic surgery will be in the future. I'm still to close to my RNY to even think about it yet, but I know I'll need help too!

I turn 45 three weeks and this is the first birthday that I really don't want to see. Birthdays never bothered me before wonder why this one is. I don't want to be 45, I want to be like, oh I don't know 18 and know what I know now, and I would like to believe that things would be different. But they could be worse. And I am like you Kelly alot of people think I'm a lot younger than I am. I get that "When you get to be my age" all the time and my response is "And just how old are you anyway". Most are shocked to find out that I'm as old or older than they are. That always makes me feel good.

I will be 46 in Feb. Feeling much yonger lately now that I've lost over 100 pounds. Just wish I had WLS years ago (1 year in April 2007).

Kelle; I will be 46 tomorrow. I love my 40's and I loved my 20's, but I wouldn't do the 30's over again if I were paid! I had my surgery in 2003 and haven't lost as much as I'd hoped, but I am so happy now compared to pre-surgery years! I've had a pannilectomy and will soon be having a little more Plastic surgery, but I still think that the extra skin is worth it! Sure my wrinkles on my face show more, but hey... people still assume I'm much younger... it's all in the attitude and the twinkle in the eye! lol. Enjoy the trip, make the most of your window of opportunity and watch out for those people out there that feel you haven't worked for your success, because those are the people who don't have a clue how much work it is. By the way, I believe a person who is sincere, honest, and loving is beautiful no matter what they weigh. Stay happy and healthy! Julia

Hi Kelle, The day I turned 40, I was at a spa in Ireland, looking out the windows at a lake and a mist covered mountain, sipping champagne and eating fresh fruit, and thinking, "Forty's all right!" I love my 40s. My 20s were about emotional growth and my 30s intellectual growth. My 40s are about spiritual growth. I've faced the biggest pain of my past since turning 40. I've accepted aspects of myself that I couldn't in younger years. I've found my way back to the Goddess since turning 40. I'm 45, will be 46 on Feb 2nd, and I had my surgery back on Halloween this year. I feel more like I did at 16 than I have in years. The world is mine and there are no limits. I also have a young face and as I am starting to lose weight, I see some saggy stuff - and I don't like it! I hope it goes away with my double chin. If you hear of some way of beating it, let me know! Lisa
