Hi Sandy, it's always seemed to have been said that it gets harder to lose as you get older. Not sure that's true, I think its what you put into it, is what you get out. I have had no difference in my weightloss so far in comparison to someone who is 23. I'm 44. I am actually ahead of some who had surgery the same month as me. So it just depends on you I think. How active you are, how much you follow the rules and mostly just you as an individual. Everyone is different, metabolisms etc. I'd say if you were a slow loser, found it hard to lose pounds pre-op that you may find some of the same post-op. But really it's a guessing game LOL Have a great day!

Hi, I am 42 years old. Oh god that hurt to say..........But I lost real fast. I think it is all up to you. Depends on what you eat. How much you can eat. And how often do you eat. And how much you exercise. Now I don't exercise at all. I stat yo sick. I have been sick the whole time. I had gbs on July 5th. 05.........and today september 27th 06 I only weigh 96 lbs. It's all up to you.. have a blessed day. amy

45 here too. I had WLS in April of this year and lost 102 pounds in 25 weeks (average of 2 pounds a week), so I think it is safe to say that I'm losing weight faster now then when I was young. The most successful diet I did was when I was 28 and lost a little over 70 pounds. And that took much longer then 25 weeks. So I think that WLS will give you great results no matter what your age is, compared to trying to lose the weight using a standard diet plan.

I think everyone is so different I don't know if age plays a big part or not.  I had my surgery on 11/14/06 I'm 47 and have lost 78 pounds. Deb
