New to the board.....I am 30something.....
Hi All, My name is Nissah and I am new to this board. I just found it today, however I have been a part of OH since February 2005. I spend majority of my board time on BAF...Okay all my board time on BAf, but I am glad to see this board for the 30something people.
I am 32 years young and I have 3 children, ages 16, 13, and 3. I started bearing children young and so did my battle with obesity. So here I am, looking to lose weight.
I am currently in the last phase, of the first stage of WLS. I have completed all the testing, approvals, and clearances and I am just waiting on my surgery date. My date is Dec. 19, 2005. I was scheduled for 8/24, but due to me starting nursing school, I did not have enough recovery time, so I opted to have surgery in Dec., with the christmas break.
I am so excited and scared at this time, but I am so ready to become a loser. You really don't want to consider yourself a loser, unless you are 360lbs like me. I am down 23lbs, because I am trying to get my liver to shrink b4 surgery and I am doing fairly well, but I think I have gained some back. But I am not going to worry about that, and I am going to pick up where I left off, and start losing again.
My WLS goal is to lose 180lbs, and my present goal is to lose 40lbs before surgery. So, with this being said, I want to say hello to this board and I will be back to visit often. Here's to another board added to my favorites board......
Thanks in Advance for the warm welcomes.
( I am at school now and I won't be able to come back to the computer until I get home. I am supposed to be doing class work... bad me)

Hiya Nissah and welcome to the board,
I'm saying that like I'm some cruise director, but the truth is, I'm new to the board as well.
I'm 3 years post op from surgery and very glad that I did it. I'm at a point in my journey where I feel that I should share the "wealth" of my knowledge (gained from experience) and try and help anyone who needs a guide or support.
So if you have any questions, concerns, or just wanna chit chat, let me know! I know what it's like to be where you are, and let me assure you, the grass IS greener on the lighter side, and I'm thrilled to know that you'll be making it over to this side soon!

Hi Nissah,
I'm Paula and I have a surgery date of sept.21. I am ready to begin losing as well. More than being excited right now I am so scared. I have never had surgery before and i also have children one 5 one 5 months. I am so afraid that i am going to be the one that things go wrong with. I guess this is normal pre surgery anxiety (i wouldn't know) lol. i have recently started to go on obesity help trying to put my mind at ease about this nervous feeling chatting with others that might be feeling the same. well hope that school is going well i start classes tommorow.
hope to hear back from you.
take care
Paula
