Hi everyone!  I have been reading the board for a few days and decided to bite the bullet and post!

I am new here and hoping that this board will be a support for me as I go forward with my WLS.  I have been overweight my whole life and finally made the decision to have by-pass.  I have had my 1st consultation with the surgeon, finished my 6 month supervised diet, had a sleep study (yes I have sleep apnea), had my psych eval (no issue there), and paper work has been submitted to my insurance company.  So now I wait the 2-3 weeks to be approved (hopefully) and then schedule my surgery!  I am nervous but ready to do this.  I don't want to live this way anymore and feel this crappy.

Any input on what to expect pre and post op, tips about how to handle the liquid diet and pureed diet stages, etc would be awesome!!!

Hi Marci---

My name is lisa and i am here in iowa also, i am in sioux city, i did all the stuff you didto get ready, my insusurance co tookabout 2weeks for a responce.  i had my consultaion a week later with blood work, they are gonna be calling me back later today with results, i thought i had to wait tillsome time in may for my surgery but one of my dr nurses just told me they are still scheduling in april, so who knows could be sooner than ithought!!

i have been sampling diff protein shakes trying to find one that is easy to get down.  Have ou found any yet?  i found musle milk witch has about 30g of protein in it. i am trying to make sure i get get around 80 a day, i heard you get better results when you get more protein in.
