Hi - I had surgery June 30th/July4t. Lap RNY/Open RNY.
At the time of surgery...I weighed 277....today I weigh 218.

Am I loosing too slow? May who are at the 6 month mark have lost nearly 100lbs by then.
When I talk to my doc...she said in a year I will be were I want to be. And that she is fine with the rate of weightloss I have had. She said eat eat protein and walk daily.

The first 3 weeks after  surgery - I lost 38lbs...felt like crap....the rest has been slow slow to come off. I am really having to work at getting it off.  Yet I do feel great. I have more energy, etc...

Anyone out there in the same boat? I am grateful for what I have lost..I just wanted to be further along.

Thanks -

I actually had my surgery on Jan 5 and I'm starting off slow.  I'm praying it picks up.  I didn't even lose anything this week and believe me I have alot to lose.  I think you're on point.  Alot of people I've talked to got to 100 mark at about a year but I know they say everyone is different.  I pray the weight keeps droping for you.

Had my RNY on Oct 10,2008 and since surgery have only lost 43lbs. I am 4 months out of this and I havent lost a pound in 6 weeks or more. I am concerned myself and my surgeon says I am moving along just fine. I dont feel like it when I also see others at the 100 lb mark already.

I also had surgery on June 30th lap RNY, I started at 269 and I am now at 207.  I am fighting with myself loss more.  My surgery loosing slow is good about 10 pds a month is what they want you to lose.  I hope this helps!  Good luck!

I had surgery in Aug. and i hit my 100. My Dr. says that losing 10 pounds a month is a good thing.

I also feel that im loosing to slow.
I still cant drink protein shakes they make me soooo ill.

One thing I have noticed with most everyone that posts about a lack of weight loss was a lack of a sample of your daily diet.  I assume the majority are keeping excellent records as instructed by the doctors and the website here so if you could post say a weeks worth of every single thing that you have eaten, drank or even chewed on and spit out it can help determine any issues.

Good Luck to you all with your continued WL,

-Jaime

I think that soething else to keep in mind is that a starting weight of under or around 300 lbs is actually considered somewhat of a "lightweight" in this world, at least according to my surgeon. Many of the 100 lbs in 6 months are people that weighed far mroe and that have far more to lose following that century mark. Not to make light of it, 100 lbs is 100 lbs and an EXCELLENT result.

I am also reminded that, at a starting weight of 276 - 281 ( depending on whch scale I was on at the time), I was told to set smaller, more realistic goals =and that they woule eventually add up.  Remember that even on the Nutrisystem ads, weigh****chers, and yes - even OH - many of the massive results arent' as typical as one would believe.  My expectations were set that I would lose 60-80% of my EXCESS weight, not of my total weight. This is an important distinction.

I have a hard time not looking at the scale every day, even 2 weeks out, to see what's going on wiht this (hey, I'm human), but my dad tell sme that it's more important to focus on how I FEEL, how my health has already improved (every pound is a step in the right direction as fr as our health goes), and how my clothes are starting to be too big as my body changes.

Great job everyone and I wish you all the most success!
