Newbie here!
I lurk here but Ihave been to shy to post. I am a mom to 3 boys 5, 2 and 1 year old. I am very excited to have the Gastric Bypass, but a little scared too. I can't help but think what if something happens to me. DH is wonderful, but could he raise our boys on his own?
Anyway, I have been on the "pathway" for about 3 months and still have 3 more months before I have my surgery. I am having such a hard time losing the 24 lbs (10%) that I need to in order to get the surgery. What kind of diets have worked for you guys?

Hi,
I too am a newbie. I also have two sons ages 9 and 4 and I am so feeling that way that you are now. I am moving pretty fast, I am probably 3 months or so away from the surgery as well, but still have my reservations. This is really something that I want to do, but it all goes back to what if...
I kind if started "trying" to loose before I saw my surgeon. I have lost in total 9 pounds but only 4 of them have been since I have been weighing in with the surgeon so i have 11 to go. This helps when I know I have to go get weighed in frequently. I have totally cut out soda (this was my weakness) and I have reduced my junk intake, and also have started going to the gym. I am eating a lot of weigh****chers frozen meals for lunch ( i usually went to get fast food) so this has made a huge difference, but it still do eat what i want because i know after the surgery i will not be able to eat a lot of my faviorites, i just eat it in moderation. Good luck with the weight loss, as always it is a uphill battle but know that you are not alone.
Take Care my fellow newbie.

WELCOME!!!! I Love my RNY! I was sooooo nervous before surgery. I had never been put to sleep. You will do fine. It is the best decision I've made for myself. I wanted to live for my kids, but I was terrified to leave them by an elected surgery. I know what you are feeling. I think it's a normal feeling.
