HELP
I havent lost weight in 20 days. I had my GBS on August 11th. In 2 weeks from surgery I lost 37pds,and none since. I try my best getting in my fluid but still not able to reach 70 ounces. My protein intake is not good, maybe 40 grams a day. My exercise is not much, anywhere from 1/2 mile a day to none since we had hurricane Ike. I work shift work 12 hr shifts, most of the time afterwards is taken up by kids or Im just tired . I called my Docs assistant yesterday and he said stay off the scale and be patient and just continue to do what Ive been doing. Do yall have any suggestions or should I just be patient and quit worrying. October third will be my 2 month check up and Im at 262 and my Doc said I would be down to atleast 249 by then. I also got dehydrated after the 2 weeks and the doc had me start drinking gatorade, seems to me this would not help my situation because of the sugar. Since my protien isnt good,I eat smoked almonds and have no problem with those. Let me know what your thought is on my situation.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling the way you are. But I think it is very important that you get at least 65 grams of protein in. I'm not sure why you are unable to get it in at this time but if it is because you can't eat that much you can order the "new whey" protein bullets from bariatriceating.com or if you have a GNC near you, many of them carry them. They contain 42grams of protein in a 3.1oz serving. They don't taste too bad either. I say increase your protein because if you do not have enough protein in your body you will lose muscle mass instead of weight. So it will appear that you lose a lot of weight fast and then it stops because you've lost your muscle mass and you metabolism has come to a hault. Both of these are very important in weight loss even if you don't get as much walking in. You need that protein and those bullets are the quickest way to get it without having to consume a lot of boring shakes. Now, that does not mean you should not be drinking your water. You should have your water with you at all times. I would get a little sick to the stomach when I drank water in the beginning so I started drinking it at room temp. That helped a little. Now I don't have a problem. Do you take you multivitamins daily? That's important too. I hope I haven't talked to much for you but I do wish you success in you weight loss journey. I'm no pro but I did do a lot of research. Good luck and God bless!
Do you know around how many calories a day you're consuming? I know that almonds have many healthful properties, but if you're relying on them for even a fair portion of your food intake, you might be consuming too many calories for weight loss given your exercise level. They likely also contain a lot of salt, which will make you retain water so that even if you were losing some fat, you're gaining some water = zero scale movement. All nuts are super calorie-dense.
