Hi,
My insurance requires that I have Co-morbid conditions in order for them to approve surgery, even though I have a BMI of 48.
I am desperate to have this surgery so I can get my life back.
Does anyone have any ideas???

My cousin had a BMI of 38 with no official comorbidities, but petitioned based on long-documented history of joint, back, & knee pain.  It was a long, arduous process that took effort by her primary care physician & 5 years of medical documentation.  I think from start to surgery day was like a 6 month process.

Regarding the comorbidities - many insurance companies will state that the comorbidities are non-responsive to medication/ treatment - just an FYI.  If you snore, get a referral for a sleep study.
