Hi just wanted to see if I could find a few others who were around the same weight as I am pre op.  I see so many differences in before and after depending on height and beggining weight.

thanks

HI JT! I am trying to get the RNY too.

Wow you have done so weLL after your surgery. You look like a totaly diffrent person!

I was asking the question because my Nut told me I needed to lose 25 lbs before she would approve me being submitted.  She wanted me to lose it because HER goal weight for me is 125 lbs!

She wants me to do this even though my insurance doesnt require me to and the dr didnt say anything about me losing extra for the surgery.

I weighed 125 maybe in 3rd grade :).  She said if I didnt lose the 25 I would weigh around 165. Which sounds fine to me. I dont know if I want to go all the way to 125.

Did your drs talk to you about how much you would lose post op? Did any of it sound like what my NUT is telling me about "goal" weight? Are you still losing? 168 looks great to me!!

Thanks

125 is probably your ideal weight per the BMI chart.....130 is mine....ridiculous...135 used to be my goal weight....not anymore.  If I weighed 130 lbs I wouldnt look healthy.  My hubby used to think I would look good at 125ish.  Now he says no way...Dr says to get to 140, then rebound 10-15 lbs for a healthy weight...which, according to the BMI chart is normal but not ideal.  That BMI chart is not a one size fits all.  Your NUT sounds a little strange to me.  Your surgeon should be setting your goals, not your NUT.  Talk to your surgeon about it.  TO answer your question about continued weight loss, yes, I am still losing weight....I actually have lost 4 lbs in three days....two of those lbs came off overnight :-) BUT I have been at a stall for about three weeks.  I often wonder where I will "land" weightwise - will it stop soon, will it continue?  Guess we don't really know until about 12-18 months post op....right now, I am only about 7 months post op.  I hear a lot of people saying that I am too thin, etc....I try not to listen.  I don't see them telling people who are a size 0 that they are too thin....and I'm in a 10/12.  Goodl uck

Yes she is going by the BMI chart. I guess if I was trying to go for sickly skinny thats about where I would be 120-125. . I will see what she will say tomorrow. I really want the to go ahead and submit to my insurance just to get it rolling. I dont know if they will approve me or not.

When you say rebound-- does that mean your Dr would say you will stay around the 150's when its all over with?  The 10-15 lbs being a fluctuation through the years?

the way I understand this surgery is that it is likely that you will hit a "low" weight....then regain about 10-15 lbs to hit your average weight.  For me, my dr wants me to hit 140, then says through the natural process of this surgery, I will regain to hit 150-155 which is where he would like me to remain permanently.

hi. I"m 5'5" and my end goal is somewhere around 150-165.  I think for ME anything smaller than that might look unhealthy but I'll see when I get there.

my starting weight day of surgery will be around 320 ish.

HI Mandy!

Did your Nut set your goal or your Dr?  Did they say anything about losing before the surgery?

I made it to the Nut last week and she did aprove me for submision to the insurance. They sent my letter out last week so I will see if I get approved.  In the mean time the NUT told me that 1200 cal. should make the 20lbs come off if I exercise also.
So she said Carnation instant sugarfree 6 times a day.   Or I can substitute one of the six with a diet frozen meal from the grocery...as long as its not over 200 cal.

I am starting next week.

I see your date is coming up on the 22, next week  !!
Prayers for you and best wishes :)

Hello,
I'm 5'4" and was 286 at my first consult & 261 day of surgery.
Today, at 15 months out, I am 119 = a grand total loss of 167 pounds.
I'm wearing a 4 or 2 depending on brand; sometimes a 6.
