Hello....my name is Rob I am from RI and in the early stages of WLS. The first surgeon I met with felt thet RNY was my best option...I am meeting with another surgeon at the end of the month to get his opinion on which type of surgery would be best for me. I am pretty confident I will be going with RNY due to my health issues(Type 2, Sleep Apnea. HBP)...I feel that the RNY will help me take care of these issues quicker so I can focus on getting a good eating schedule and concentrate on a solid exercise regiment. I just wanted to say hello...

Hello! I think you are correct.  I also chose RNY for the same reasons.  Let us know what you decide.  There are pros and cons to them all as you well know :) Lyns

Hello - I hope you and the surgeon make the best decision for you.  I am having rny on the 13th and I feel very confident that I have chosen the right procedure to get the results I am looking for.

Hi Rob. I agree that RNY may be a great option for you. I too, suffered from all the same illnesses as well as having Asthma, Emphysema and Congestive Heart Failure. I had my surgery on April 30. Pre op, I was taking 17 pills a day, 4 shots of insulin, 1000 units a day and doing 4-6 breathing treatments. Four days after my surgery, the day I came home from the hospital, was the last I took 99% of those meds. I am now on my vitamins, 1 pill to prevent ulcers and 1 blood pressure pill. I am doing awesome and could not be happier with the decision I have made. I am sure you will feel the same way. Good luck!
