Recovery Question?
This question is for people who have already had WLS.
I am wondering how long it took for everyone to get back to work afterwards?
I am lucky that I am in a really great situation. I work for my best friends (who is an ARNP) husband as an office manager in a construction office. He is very understanding about WLS and will work with me, plus my job is not physically demanding. I am just trying to get an idea of what to expect.
Thanks, Amy
I had RNY and was off work for 3 weeks due to my own choice. I felt good enough after a week but wanted to wait until 3 weeks so that bringing lunch/supper and making sure I got all my water in was doable. My boss is a blessing and so understanding and told me to take my time and was surprised that I was good to go after 3 wks! I know people that went back after 2 weeks and those who took the full 6 weeks. So, it's all based on you, how you do and your doc giving clearence, and your job. Best to you!!!

I took 6 weeks off. The job I had at the time was very physical though. You will be very TIRED for a while. You may not need that much time off. I think this is something that varies from person to person. I would say kind of play it by ear. You may feel OK to go back much sooner. Or maybe half days for a while. Good luck!
