Holiday Question...
How does everyone handle the Holiday Season with all the food temptations? Do you do anything special to help alleviate some of the trials that may be placed upon you? I know with my family, during this time of year, we have one party after another. In years past, I have been one of the main cooks for everything. I believe that will all be halted this year as my surgery date is 12/11. I will just barely being 'trying' soft foods when Christmas gets here so I don't anticipate doing much food preparation. I hope that the family understands that this year... Just thought I'd check and see if anyone has any good advice on this subject....

First off, I would suggest not hoping that your family understands, but insisting that they understand. I don't mean that harshly, what I mean is to let them know that you are Not going to be cooking for them this year.
1. you'll be recovering from major surgery and do NOT need that sort of stress to hinder your healing.
2. you are having surgery for weight loss and do not need the added stress of being around tons of food you can't eat.
3. you deserve their support and respect, and they shouldn't have any problems providing that for you.
Remember this is YOUR journey and it's all about you and your health. While you are adjusting to your new way of life, you have to really focus on yourself and put other things on the back burner for a little while. It's only temporary, but necessary. Take the days one at a time. You'll be in the early, early stages of post-op through these holidays, so taking each day as it comes will probably be your best bet. Focus on your health and well being first and foremost and listen to your new pouch. :)
